A few who are always good and more often than not in entertaining or good films:
Mark Walberg
Kurt Russell
That bloke out of Wall St. (not Sheen, sorry been on the Leffe, 2 for £5 at Tesco)
Jason Isaacs
Josh Hartnett
Reese Witherspoon
don't think Walberg is really classed as under-rated....?
my vote goes to Tom Berenger
I would have thought Wahlberg is overrated, no? TV actor at best.
I call troll
I guess my point is I've not seen any of them in bad films (ok maybe Kurt) but they work a lot and are all mainstream.
using all as my reference point
that guy who plays a badie in x men [ he has no powers ] and is a baddie in the first Bourne film ,him.
Wahlberg? are you serious?
he plays soldier/cop/hardman roles like that in the Shooter, Departed, Three Kings, etc. well but in those where he has to actually act and not just muscle around he is pretty woeful - see Planet of the Apes, Italian Job, Four Brothers, The Fighter, Invincible.
I do like his films though 😀
EDIT: I'll give you Perfect Storm, he's good in that
Bambi Woods.
Brian Cox - although it's debatable whether he is under-rated nowadays.
Also, Teri Garr.
Conversely, Keanu Reeves may well be the worst actor on the planet but I enjoy most of the films he's been in too!
Harry Dean Stanton.
Played small parts in some big films
Cool Hand Luke
Kelly's Heroes
Godfather II
Alien
Paris, Texas
Escape From New York
Wild At Heart
The Green MIle
Mark Wahlberg is pretty awful. The only films I've liked him in have been The Other Guys and The Departed.
Harry Dean Stanton is different-mostly in art house films.
This is a Kevin Bacon thread, aye?
Any child under the age of 3 who falls over in the park.
After checking for an audience they put on a show that would put a Brazilian footballer to shame.
No audience, they just get up brush themselves down and carry on.
The Harry Potter kid. All of them.
Michael Ironside.
Jason Isaacs was great in that BBC drama recently. I've always rated John Cusak.
The Harry Potter kid. All of them.
Now that's a troll....
I see your Kevin Bacon and raise you Ron Perlman
luis guzman
john leguizamo
diedrich bader
gary cole
just a few of mine that spring to mind.
i'd also have said ron perlman but he's been mentioned already!
Guy Pearce - hard to watch him without thinking of neighbours but he's a good actor.
Tom Sizemore
Hector Elizondo
Patrick Swayze (but only in Point Break)
Martin Balsam
Richard E. Grant (if only for How To Get Ahead In Advertising)
Brad Dourif
Barry Corbin
Case closed.
