Is it any good? I mean no one would want to follow me but presumably there are some interesting things/folks I could follow? Not interested in celebrities

Is it safe for kids? Not keen on Facebook for them as have seen too much cyber-bullying - is Twitter any better?

Are you interested in sports?
Politics?
Other stuff?
You might have friends on there.

As for safety, I couldn't comment other than to say that it's as dangerous or as safe as any other medium - I don't think the kids use it much though.

1) I like it. I signed up for a specific reason, news of a new TV show I was interested in was being released on Twitter by the people involved. People who are 'interesting to follow' ultimately depend on what your interests are. There's plenty of MTB types on there, as well as various feeds giving news / jokes / whatever floats your boat. One way to find out?

Kids, I dunno. It's no less 'safe' than the rest of the Internet I suppose. I expect that following Justin Bieber would be a might safer than following Jimmy Carr.

There are quite a few from STW on twitter:

@UKCougar for one, for pun downs
@Singletrackmark for updates on what boils the resident grumpy's piss
@miketually for lots of detail on his everyday life
@HarrytheSpider for Scalextric related stuff and Hit-the-North news

Lots of comedians for funnies.

I tweet my MP about stuff. She's pretty good at responding.

People i class as celebs differ to most
I follow mountain bikers, all the American mx riders and road racers.
Last week iom TT legend John mcguiness tweeted about riding mx the following day, my mate tweeted back and arranged to meet up and spent a day riding with him. Technology has it's uses.
Not sure about safe for kids or not

IME they certainly do! Twitter has just 'gone big' for teenagers in the last month or so. I say this as a parent of two teenagers and a teacher of hundreds of the little darlings. Facebook is old news. My number of followers has gone from 3 to 30 in the space of a fortnight due to students finding me on twitter. I think I'm ok because I've tweeted about 5 times in the last 18 months - I'm just on it to follow pro cyclists - so they'll soon get bored of me!

Fairy nuff. I stand corrected. I had thought they weren't using it much, so I'm a little out of date on that one. 🙂

@deadlydarcy can be quite entertaining when ranting about latex going through floors into the new kitchen below....

Some people - like me - give tedious titbits of useless information about their lives. Others are far more interesting.

I tend to unfollow the self obsessed or those spending too much time trying to sell me stuff.

I use it.

A lot.

To be fair, Ive met up with a lot of great people on there, had some great days out riding in places I often have never ridden in before.

Thumbs up from me.

I don't tweet, but I follow a few pro cyclists and comedians* and use it to follow live events.

*I like Jimmy Carr, but his tweets are rubbish

#jimmycarr - are you listening??

I used to tweet and retweet loads of really interesting stuff (there is no actual evidence to support this claim), then I went and got a proper job where i have to work and stuff. So now I just use it to see what other local mtb's are up to and to moan about my wife (she doesn't use it). I like following some of the mtb manufacturers and people like mtb cut for the videos etc.
