ha, initially i only registered to try to get free stuff from STW but yeah i actually quite like it...
i was on there but i deleted my account because i just didn't get it. have no intention of twittering! and i don't actually like being told i am following someone - i don't follow nobody!

Twitter essentially is a 'micro blogging site'. WHat that actually means is that people are given 140 characters in which to convey messages. It is a broadcast medium where you choose to 'follow' any number of other users. For example, I have a lot of the top riders in the Tour on my follow list so I get nice little updates from Bradley Wiggins, Lance Armstrong, Levi Leipheimer etc every day. It's an insight into other peoples lives and I love it. I also follow friends and family to keep up to date and I tend to mention anything from the last MTB ride to how my garden is growing. It's up to others if they are interested or not but I have a few followers.

Just getting into it myself, only signed up to get the tweets of the TDF riders but slowly becoming addicted. Seems a great way to post a pic and a few words about your most recent ride.

The great thing is you can connect it to facebook so you never have to go there. Also, it's is much nicer if you use an aggregator like Eventbox to collate all the services.

Still don't get it. Finally understand how Facebook works and quite enjoy it for keeping in touch/gossiping with friends i rarely see.
How does twitter actually work? Is it like a mini facebook, or is it based on your mobile? How often do you post something? does it arrive via text or email. As said, i still don't get it.
