Jimmers, do you tweet?
I've often thought, why isn't posting on Twitter called '****ting' ?
Your such an intellectual if that's a thought you have often.
Tweeting seems to me to be a bit like opening your front door and shouting inane and boring comments into the street.
Nobody's really listening and nobody really cares what you're saying.
Unless you're 9.
In which case it seems to be the most important thing ever in the whole history of the universe.
Now where are my slippers and pipe... grumble grumble...
I think that's Facebook you're thinking of. I find twitter good for news and other interesting 'stuff'. I don't follow friends so I rarely get inane mutterings.
Facebook is more like the mail you get through your door addressed to 'occupier.' It's the Internet equivalent of a leaflet campaign.

Man on internet forum complains about other people using the internet.
QED.

Yep. My wife also complains I don't make a lot of sense sometimes.
I'm a technophobe, therefore I don't 'get' Twitter or that MyFace thingy, although I accept there are people who are determined to pretend they're useful or something.

I would compare it more to a small child desperate for attention... "me, me, me , hey, look at me..."

Depends how you define useful, if you want news from various sources about various subjects then yes it's 'useful'. But if you don't understand it there's not a lot of point in discussing it.
twitter is a great way to get up to the minute updates for news and cycling. thats what I use it for, oh, and to arrange rides.
Facebook is a great way of realizing all your old friends are idiots.
