As there a few TV threads at the mo I thought I better ask as I can't seem to find any information on the internet about what's good or not, I guess they couldn't either otherwise they wouldn't be asking.

So confused what to buy

Black and white looks okay but not sure of the longevity, colour is so out of my price range though .
As for remote controls not sure I want a wire dangling across the room.

Please help me just like you have with the other poor soles on here asking about TVs

Thanks in advance

This is funnier in your head than in real life.

It was a valiant attempt, OP.

May I suggest you don't backtrack, and double down with mentions of Rumbelows and VHS cassettes.

Might as well go down swinging.

My dad only stopped renting the same 22" crt a couple of years ago that he had some time from the mid 90's. Only brought one as his work gave him some vouchers and he couldn't think of anything else to get. Hate to think how much that must have cost him over the 20 odd years or so he had it.

Get one with a meter that takes 50p coins. No freeloaders, that rental bill isn't going to pay itself.

Radio Rentals. None of that posh Rumbelows stuff around here.
You'd be better off with Betamax for quality, but pre-recorded is thin on the ground.

I bet house breakers collectively heaved a massive sigh of relief in about 2008 when it became clear that, thanks to LED/LCD technology, they could once again tealeave TV's without risking significant spinal injury trying to get them out of the front room.......

Grandparents used to pay DER by cheque at the start of the year for the rental of their TV and video. How they never stopped to compare that to the purchase price will always remain a mystery.

Growing up though, we had Rediffusion with a lettered switching box screwed down to the window sill.

I'd advise getting one with Teletext or Ceefax - like having the internet on the telly!
