Has anyone done this before? Do you think it would be OK as a first event?

I live nearby and may give it a go.

It's a Human Race event, by the way.

if youve never run then no, if you run marathons then yes, doesnt help really unless we know how far you run and on what terrain. never done a tuffman btw but done some brutal10k which you could always walk round.. or stop for a rest if you had to. just checked the results and going by the fast and slow times doesnt look that tuff so if youve run off road in mud go for it.

Pippingford is seriously grim in the wet. I'd not want to do a winter event there!
