[Closed] trying to find something but i dont know what its called. (non bike)

Im looking for a number board which is made up of the number 8, normally yellow/hi vis.

im looking to make a lap countdown board.

being that im a clockmaker i should know what its called, but i dont. Have been googling for he last hour or so.

as always, 1st port of call STW.

yes thats it BUT im not looking for a digital one. The one im thinking of the edges flip over to change the number. (if you get my drift)

That design is called a seven segment display, if that helps.

EDIT: are you thinking of 'vane display'?

Try looking for 'lap counter' they appear to be about $50 tho...

it would appear that a vane display is run by electric.

i thought it may be hand turned. oh well back to the drawing board.

There are hand done versions I'm sure.

How many laps are you thinking? Just make up cards with the numbers on. Or cut out a seven segment display from thick black card and slide white card behind the relevant segments.

Or you could do something better in wood with slidey bits of white/black painted wood.

we currently have a number on ring type counter. We are trying to get a more professional look. we are happy to spend cash, but it needs to be power free (possibly d or c cells could work)
