Hi folks, bit of tree expert input looked for, I am intrigued by the nature of my local trees' downfall.

All over local woods, we have BIG trees that have been felled by something. Makes even clambering over the ones falling across the trail tricky, forget riding over them!

Not a lot of wind here (NW swissland), but we have had some heavy thunderstorms over this shitty summer.

Lots of trees down - does this look like a lightning strike?

To my untrained eye, it looks like lightning strike, as the sap is superheated and explodes.
