Our Trangia has non-stick pans, so we're looking to get a spatula and a spoon for use with them. MSR's folding utensils are of interest and get good reviews except for one review that said the nylon melted into their pancakes. Anybody else have a similar problem or did the reviewer just leave the utensil in a hot pan, giving it plenty of time to melt the nylon?

Probably just left them in the pan too long. I have some nylon stuff in the kitchen. Wouldn't use it for fishing things out of a deep fat fryer or BBQ but fine for stirring liquids and normal frying.

FWIW when camping I tend to just use a spork to carefull fry things. Same one I then eat with. I did at one point go and buy some wooden utensils and simply cut them down to the right size. Cheap and light.

Use a stick you find.

Or carve a little spatula and spoon set.

I used a little wooden spoon on mine at the weekend for turning my bacon and Spam fritters 😆

I think I got some cheap plastic and wooden things from Wilko and cut it down to fit inside the lid. Just long enough it doesn't fall in to the pan.

Anything else is over complicating it! (IMHO) 😉

Ikea do a set of 3 'mini' utensils - spoon, fish slice and fork, made from black plastic.
I think they are about £1 for the set and weigh next to nothing.

Just get normal cheap utensils and cut the handle and or spatula down in size a bit as/if needed.

The GSI stuff is fine in my experience, as is most cheap placcy stuff.
But my top tip if you are considering cut down wooden utensils is to look for bamboo.

The Ikea set is 1.50 - cheap slice, tongs and spoon

I bought it for my camping kit the other day

The MSR stuff is fine. I bought the "camp kitchen" with various wee accessories and bottles etc. and have been using it for years.

if you're happy to lug around a trangia any small spatula/spoon from ikea/tesco/wilko/poundland cut down as the others have said will do as you're hardly weight saving. i've always used tesco rip off sporks for £1 but then again i don't cook pancakes... one snapped once so i gaffer taped the ends to sticks and for the rest of the trip had the luxury of a separate fork and spoon 🙂
