New Transporter arrives in a couple of weeks, which will be the most expensive vehicle I have owned by far so would like hang on to it and if it does go walkies, get it back.
It will have an alarm and immobilizer as a part of the Business Pack upgrade.
Has anyone got a Tracker fitted? If so what and by whom? Anything worth knowing?
I would start by looking at who you plan to use to insure it and what they reccomend/require - I am reasonably confident that it might be a requirement now given their 'popularity' .
I'd look at a Ghost Immobiliser install too.
Insurer has stated that it doesn’t need to be Thatcham rated but it has to be installed professionally and 24/7 monitoring.
I’m looking at Meta Trak Deadlock which does similar things to the Ghost immobiliser.
Our work van had one from Asset Monitoring Solutions, £12/month and has been very reliable, we use it to see where the van is and estimate arrival times rather than recovery if its nicked but it works well
We had a VW Campervan stolen, broke in house and got keys. For the replacement we added a Ghost immobiliser and system from www.tracker.co.uk
System and service from Tracker was A1 and worth the cost.
Also consider getting a safe fitted to store the keys when van on the drive.
Insurance for our new van insisited on Thatcham S5 being gotten. We went for the Scorpion s5 with the fob activation and lifetime subscription. It was about the cheapest that I could find, think end of a grand fitted but no ongoing subscription costs to pay.
We have Ghost immobiliser, Global Telemetrics tracker and secondary tracker via the diesel heater!
To be honest don't rate the Global Telemetrics, app is a bit useless but wanted something Thatcham certified.
We had trackers professionally installed on our transit customs and connects. It took me around 5mins to locate and disable.
I'm not a car theif so I suspect they'd be quicker.
We use Outsmart the Thief on our camper. On a couple of occasions we have set the alarm off accidentally we receive an instant phone call to say its been activated. Also has a panic button and the ability for remote immobilization.
