Basically from a longevity angle, any egr issues and mileage etc etc?

Nothing but regular servicing on the ones I have seen so far, all have probably done in excess of 100k.

What series engine? The older ones go on (and on and on).

From 2005 to 2008 I had an Avensis T Spirit with the 150ps 2.2D (from new) and handed it back with 56,000 miles on it. Mostly reelable, no issues with the egr . There was couple of problems though, the gearbox oil seal leaked causing a slipping clutch and when you booted it belched smoke like a WW1, a real embarasment. and used oil at around a litre/3000 miles. The dealer wouldn't do anything about it saying it was within parameters. If it had been my car I would have pushed for a resolution. Apart from that it was reliable car.

On some of the Toyota diesels the dpf is a service item every 60,000 miles, could be wrong, but worth asking the question because if I'm right it could be very expensive

Mate has a 2.0 D4D and it is on it's second clutch and that is on it's way out. So I can't imagine the 2.2 will be any better in that respect cos it has a lot more Torques. Other than that it's been very reliable seeing as it's hit most of Cheshire.

The honestjohn link-its the next Gen 06+ and boy its WORSE. The 2.2 looks like a chocolate engine. Think I'll avoid Toyota. Cheers.
