So now the weather is closing in it’s reached gloves weather for me so it’s time to resume my search for what seems to be like hunting for unicorns! I walk the dog twice a day everyday and I like to use my phone when doing so because now she’s 10 with arthritis she does mostly pavement walks. I’ve tried the etip from north face and am now on a pair from rab. Both of which the smart phone tips have worn out in what I consider a rubbish time frame considering the cost.

They need to have some sort of silicone grip because I’m an iPhone user so it’s like holding a piece of ice! Needs to be not too thick as they need to be dexterous enough to actually use the phone. They also need to actually work with phone!

Not sure putting a whole shop on my hands is very dexterous! Also as I’m a shielder and the numbers are very much on the rise I need something I can order online.

I already listen to music and manage to watch where I walk as well! It's an amazing ability to multi task seeing as the tasks don't require major concentration and seeing as I don't walk within 2 metres of a person as well, I even have the ability to check the road and step out into it if it's clear to avoid said person! (Almost as amazing as being able to drive a car at the same time as checking in your rear view mirror or listen to music while driving!)

I do have a spare pair of fingerless gloves so I may give it a try actually.

You could adapt your existing gloves by sewing into the thumb & fingertip some conductive thread. Ebay has various sellers eg...

Rapha Brevet gloves aren't conductive, but work with my iphone and Apple Watch. My Specialized ones that had conductive thread, lost the thread after a number of washes.

Turn on Siri and set screen lock to several minutes?

Hopefully that doesn't sound facetious but it does help.  My Dissent 133 gloves are fine for swiping screens so they might be worth a look as it's also a good layering system to cope with variations in weather / body heat.  both the mid layer and outer layer have a good grippy element on the fingers but i've only had them less than a year so too early to tell how long it'll last. so far none of it's delaminated off the cloth of the gloves though.

I assume there are no gloves that will pass through a thumbprint for unlocking?

montane trail running gloves offer basic wind and rain protection and have fingertips that work with touch screens. They'll have more expensive models with more insulation if you want a bit more warmth.

If it's for walking around, then most of the big trail running companies should have suitable models

I’ve got these from PX, they’re actually a really good autumn/spring riding glove as well, but will do exactly what you need.

I've seen some gloves where you can flip the finger tip open to expose a finger, might be an option if it's hard to find a glove with a 'smart phone' coating on the finger?

Have you looked at shooting gloves? I was gifted a pair for winter use where the trigger finger could peel back freeing up my finger to shoot with. Once done, you just fold the tip back over the finger.

Just found these that are kind of similar, albeit in mitten form.

I think for the price and low bulk I'll give the planetx gloves a go because there was another pair too for road riding someone recommended.

They need to have some sort of silicone grip because I’m an iPhone user so it’s like holding a piece of ice!

For starters I’d put a cheap silicon case on the phone to give increased grip, and enhanced drop protection - the case my iPhone 11 Pro Max is in cost about £11, and allows a lanyard to be attached for even more drop protection.
My job entails my being outdoors all day, whatever the weather, throughout the year, and also requires the use of a handheld device, formerly a 6” Samsung thing, now I have a fairly large tablet, and the one thing I’ve discovered is that none of the gloves with a touch-sensitive tip work worth a damn, so I wear knitted shooter’s mitts, so I can just fold the right ‘cover’ back when I use the tablet, which is all the time.
I might give the Sealskinz a try, knitted mitts get cold and soggy when it pisses down, although at the moment I’m wearing an old pair of gloves I bought for wood carving - they’re a Kevlar material with stainless steel wire woven in, a grippy rubber palm, and I chopped the fingertips off, and they are proving surprisingly warm when it’s wet.

Yeahh I know what you're saying but I'm almost two years into ownership of it and I've not dropped it yet (bound to now!). I also bought the phone because I like the aesthetics and feel of an iphone... not an iPhone in a case so I refuse to bow to covering it up! I think I'll try the planetx and might give fingerless a go but the pair I have spare are knitted with no grips at all so i think it'll be lethal!
