Rummaging in the back of the food cupboard looking for some Torq powder which I knew was in there somewhere, I found it, but then found it was marked Best Before 14/01/09.
Does it matter ?
I mixed up a mug full and it tasted OK.
It doesn't appear to have "gone off" in the way that some foods go rotten and, surely, sugars/carbohydrates last forever, so two questions.
Is it safe to drink ? I haven't noticed any ill effects from one mug full, but I'll probably drink a fair bit racing for 12 hours this weekend.
Will it have the same beneficial effect as new stuff, or does it somehow lose its properties over time ?
It'll be the fact they can't guarentee the stability of the compounds over a certain time limit more than anything else.
I can't imaginer that a dry mixture of sugar and salt, kept in an airtight container will support any substantial amount of microbes.
I'm still working my way through a 2kg tub my GF bought when sent off for a 'small' bottle of torq during a 24hr race ... it must be 3 years old now.
And, despite your name, you're clearly still alive, so it can't be that bad.
when has it ever tasted ok?
Aye, still alive and kicking. ****ing terrible gastroenteritis mind, no idea what's doing it 😉
