Coming up to end of current broadband contract, so looking around, been looking at Plusnet basic fibre.

Through Thinkbroadband link  https://www.plus.net/deals/unlimited-fibre/evening-and-weekend-UK-and-mobile-calls/1819fib4018ewm2/?utm_source=awin&utm_medium=res-affiliate&utm_content=evening-and-weekend-uk-and-mobile-calls&utm_campaign=1819fib4018ewm2&affiliate=awin&WT.mc_id=aff_003

Free activation

£24.99 including evening/weekend calls

Same package through TCB  https://www.plus.net/deals/unlimited-fibre/evening-and-weekend-UK-and-mobile-calls/?WT.mc_id=aff_003&affiliate=topcashback&utm_campaign=1819fib40122&utm_content=evening-and-weekend-uk-and-mobile-calls&utm_medium=res-affiliate&utm_source=topcashback

£25 activation

£29.99 including evening/weekend calls

£70 cashback

... So over the minimum 18 month contract, going through TCB costs you a net extra £45! 😆

I thought the whole point of how cashback sites came into being, was to pass on some of the link referral commission to the customers buying through the interweb.

What this deal shows (which I very much doubt is unique), is that now that people are so used to instinctively buying online through cashback sites to get the "amazing" cashback, that the cashback links referrals don't give the best overall product price to the customer.

Who'd have thought it, businesses out to make money!

It's also usually worth booking hotels directly, even if they're contracted to not undercut the travel agents the same price booked directly usually includes breakfast, access to the gym / pool, wifi, etc which all end up being extras on tripadvisor, trivago, hotels.com.

I always look for a deal first and then see if the site gives cash back.

Do people really go to tcb first ?

Wot Dunc said - decide what you want to buy and where you want to buy it from then go cashback shopping. You'll need to be savvy with the browser history / cookies though to show you're coming in via the cash back site. A second browser such as Firefox if you normally use Chrome (or vice versa) is useful for this.

Very rare to get any sort of decent deal these days, the times of hundreds in cashback just for switching are long gone.
