Before blindly following a cyclist down a side road, you might want to use your eyes to observe the different coloured tarmac, road markings and signs indicating that it is a pedestrian/cycle underpass.
You may even want to take the unusual step of checking the "road" is clear before turning into it.
Ideally you should try performing these simple steps before using your bumper to observe the two large bollards. 😆
they're a bit stumpy, those bollards!
Sat Nav failure?
dealing with bollards, fail 🙂
Brilliant, thanks OP. That's cheered me up on my morning coffee break. 🙂
To be fair, some better road markings might be useful there, but still, that is a worrying level of inattentiveness.
To be fair that is very badly designed and looks like a road entrance, the bollards are tiny too. I could see many people making that mistake on a dark rainy night.

They are now! 😀
I'm guessing the Google Mobile happened to be passing shortly after a similar incident 😀

Yeah, I'd maybe forgive that (thought it is well lit) but this happened this morning at 9am in broad daylight.
A "No Entry" sign would definitely help. No excuse for driving into them in broad daylight though.
That video is brilliant the first car actually manges to set off its airbag, superb!

Yeah - tricky that cos entry is allowed to bikes. Ideally they'd need the No Motor Vehicles sign - but my observation suggests that around 70% of motorists don't know what that means anyway!
There is a 20-zone Pedestrian Area quite near this spot (here in fact), clearly signed No Motor Vehicles except disabled and bus/taxi. Every single day I use it I get buzzed by private cars doing 30+.
I suggested to the council that they could put a bollard/chicane in that road to make drivers slow down and realise the situation - but they said that would cause a hazard as drivers would hit the bollard. 😯
Scarily it seems they are right.
This only adds weight to my "assume every motorist is a penis" self-preservation technique when riding on the roads.
That's the one johnners: No Motorcycle Stunts.
Motorists will pay more attention to that
See above 😀
The bollards take time to respond to the transmitter on the bus, so even tailgating a bus with another bus doesn't work if you don't wait for them to go up and then back down again, as one of our Worcester drivers found out. 🙄
To be fair Graham, you did used to be able to go down there... I used to use it as a shortcut on my way home from work all the time and was very miffed when they closed that particular little ratrun.
(No excuse for driving around with your eyes shut though)
