So. It’s Microsofts top secret announcement in a few minutes. Anyone actually give a shit?

I'm going for some kind of tablet.... or maybe a hoverboard.

Is it "According to law of twos, the next version of windows will inevitably suck, therefore we're releasing it tomorrow for a pound and working on the version after. Don't buy it."?

So it's a tablet. Wonder if they'll have a fire sale like HP in a few months?

Edit: or is it a laptop? Built in keyboard in the cover, sounds like a laptop with the keyboard and screen swapped.

They've invented the Asus EEE Transformer?

The hardware looks pretty whizzy, it's got some neat features. Shame all the reviews of the software are so negative. Interesting they make two versions, an Intel and an Invidia version. I do like the fact it has a stylus, which is much better for drawing and painting with, and photo retouching.

Available in 3 months? Oh FFS. Why is it only Apple who realise products should be available straight after you announce them?

Shame all the reviews of the software are so negative.

They are trying to do something different with Metro. There will always be resistance. These are supposed to be the sort of device it's made for, so I guess time will tell.

If the keyboard works it is a beautiful idea as the iPad onscreen one can be madenning

Yes, ie10 has flash baked into the browser.

It looks like the keyboard is going to feel as 'dead' as the iPad one albeit on a separate cover. Not sure touch typing will be possible still due to flat sheet nature of the keys, does it have haptic feedback of any sort....obviously no clicky down keys. I'm underwhelmed I think. Typical Microsoft lacking innovation still.
And as for flash, who cares really. It's dead and it going away. If that's Microsoft USP its weak IMHO.

Mmmm... special version of Flash built-into the browser and "Microsoft has a special whitelist of sites that are allowed to use Flash. Any site not on the list has to offer plain HTML content."

Hmmm...tempted if it's running Flash.

I have a Nokia lumia 800 and if the Metro interface is anything like as good as that then I could be tempted away from my iPad.
For starters I see a USB port on the side ,so that's a bonus instead of having to pay over £20 just for the official Apple adaptor kit.

Apparently it does have feedback, the keys move from the reviews I've read. I'll reserve judgement until I've pressed one though.

Windows 8 works very well on a tablet, it's terrible on the desktop IMHO.

I wonder how long the battery would last browsing Flash-heavy sites? It certainly looks neat, I like the cover/keyboard arrangement, and the built-in stand.
Would I buy one? No, I have too much invested in my iPad and phone, but if I was starting from scratch, I'd be very tempted indeed. Cudos to MS for trying to create something that isn't a copycat me-too product.
