I need 2m of carbon fibre to finish the car part.

That is everything you see unrolled, plus a bit up to the blue clamps. How annoying.

I think this is caused by me being too cautious and adding a 20cm safety margin on the other pieces I have cut from this roll. This has left me with lots of little offcuts and just under 1m short of the final requirement. Now I order and wait until next weekend before I can do anything. Praying the whole time that the other pieces I have already cut do not fray or get damaged.

Grrrr.

It’s not a failure, just a time to reflect…

(toungue-in-cheek)
What do you expect, pussy footing around.
Grow some and take a chance for once!

Happens to me more times than I'd like to admit. I do a lot of CNC routing and I've driven the cutter through a mounting screw trying to cut too close to the edge many times. Leave a big margin to avoid this and then realise I can't fit all my parts into the material I have left. Can't win

Measure once, cut twice. Or measure twice, add a bit, cut once and buy a bit more!

Can't you just sellotape all your offcuts together? What's the worst that could happen?
