NOTW get their revenge.
No, they get justice.
While the original NOTW story did contain a fact...... it was also full of lies, many of which they subsequently had to retract in court. The truth in the story on its own wasn't newsworthy, regardless of whether Sherridan is likable or not. So NOTW had to pepper a true story about his legal, consenting, if somewhat saucy leisure activities, which are nobody's business but his own, with lies about illegal activities in order to make the story 'in the public interest'.
As it stands there should never have been a courtcase for Sherridan to purger himself at, as there should have been no story.
So the NOTW got a result of some sort but justice hasn't been served in any sense, and nobody comes out of this well

Sheridon is a twerp of the highest order - but he did actually achieve something to make the lives of some poor people better. Something not all politicians do especially those from minority parties

He's a politician, I'm amazed that there's any doubt that he lied.
The only tragedy in this is that not enough of them are on trail for lying and being locked up.

My career as I am not qualified to be a politician nor am filthy rich. Damn I am in the wrong profession. Look at the Italian PM even he can't do anything wrong. 🙄
If he was convicted of committing perjury in his first trial, surely he must have, by definition, have committed it in the second one as well? If you see what I mean.
But theres not anything wrong with orgies if you like that sort of thing. So whatever career you are in is exactly the right profession to have orgies. And as for qualifications - theres no entrance exam (so to speak) 🙂
As an 18yo apprentice and struggling to pay the rent AND the £28 a month the government demanded from my £200 a month salary.Tommy Sheridan was the one who made to poll tax unenforcable,by bringing an end to the practise of selling poor peoples furniture to bring in a fraction of what the wicked witch had decided they owed.This meant the Tory government were not going to get the arrears,which meant they had to find a new way to raise a "fair" tax based on the value of your (rented) property.
Sheridan was the focal point of this,going to prison for it eventually.
At the time he was the one person getting off his balhooky and doing something about it. (Alex the fish was too busy pressing flesh with Simple Minds to bother,rock against the poll tax,bet that scared them in England)
But....Power corrupts,and really;Anver Khan? Stupid man,who could have been remembered by my generation in the same breath as John McLean and Jimmy Reid,but will now forever be tarred with the same brush as Hamilton and Archer.
I'm sitting on the fence with this one, as much as i dislike politicians and the ego& celebrity of Sheridan, the NOTW & Sun are not exactly champions of freedom and justice and don't exactly go about their business in the most ethical way.
The NOTW doesn't use it's journalistic resource to pursue stories on inequality, crimes against humanity, bankers, big business tax avoidance- instead it concentrates on exposing sleazy titbits yet promoting sleazy tibits at the same time.
