Loved his early books later ones were boring.

Thanks for the humour Tom.

Just heard this on the radio. They read his name out first which raised a small smile in my mind, then, a fraction of a second later, I realised why they read names out like that and saw where the story was going. Shame. Top author.

RIP - Loved his books - did try and pick a favourite but a futile exercise.

Early books were brilliant - Wilt is just sublime.
RIP Tom, thanks for the real belly laughs.

I remember sitting on Weymouth beach front reading Wilt & giggling like an idiot-my first exposure to his books, very funny writer, especially as I live in Cambridge & attended the college of Arts & Technology as an apprentice instrument maker on day release. Sad he's gone.

RIP Tom.

One of my favourite authors. Lost count of the number of times I've read the first two and 'Vintage Stuff'.

Sad.

I went through a Tom Sharpe phase when I was younger. A few left me cold (maybe I was too young) but the Wilt series and The Throwback really clicked with me.

RIP, sir.

RIP

Great fun reading, one of those that made me such an avid reader when I was younger

Sad - I thought he was quite young.

I must see if I can find the throwback and read it again.

Sad.
Devastatingly funny at his best, and, as a foreigner, I always thought a very "British" humour.
