Hi all, I'm trying to install the new Windows 10 update, and keep getting stuck at the point below

[img] [/img]

I have an Alienware that has both onboard gfx (HD530 iirc) and also discrete GTX1070 card. I really don't want to disable either of them. The laptop is not a hybrid..it's neither touchscreen nor a convertible tablet type ala Microsoft Surface. There is no such app either. Any ideas what I need to do?

Not seen that before... very reassuring. Personally, I'd click that button, bottom right and presume there's an update for it when it's done...

If you're running off a dedicated graphics card, then you can disable the CPU's built-in graphics I guess, I think that's basically what it's saying.

You might want to update the nvidia graphics driver afterwards..

The latest update is a new version of Windows. I'd hold off installing it for a bit until all the bugs have been ironed out if I were you.

The new version has definitely slowed my PC down. It used to be ready to use as soon as Windows was open, now it drags like hell for the first 5-10 mins. Wish I hadn't bothered really. And why install a load of shitty games and apps I never asked for? Piss off Microsoft.

Win10 has been like that for a while for me sadly - always turn it on a good 5 mins before I want to do anything remotely challenging!

https://www.reddit.com/r/Alienware/comments/8g1cu6/windows_10_april_2018_update/

"just finished installing 1803 on my 17r4, all i did was turn on the airplane mode after the update assistant finished downloading, everything went fine, never touched the drivers. If I didn't turn on the airplane mode, i would get the errors."

"Another successful data point for this method - worked perfect on my 13r3! Turning on airplane mode as soon as you see the "Preparing update" message was the solution. Didn't have to uninstall drivers or disable any hardware."
