Not that new, they were described in one of Kate Griffin's Urban Magic books several years ago. Made me feel decidedly queasy reading about the Fatberg monster prowling London's streets. 😕

Driving into Oxford last year one of the roads was closed due to a fatberg. I've wiped all dinner plates and pans clear of fat before washing up ever since.

I guess if you stuck the broom firmly in the ground and moved backwards and forwards across the bristles it would work. My guess is some kind of jet wash would work well.
