He was a long way out at sea and was towing a little red bouy with a flag on it. I hadn't been out as far as he had so thought I would take a look.
I swum out and started to have a chat and all he said was "there's a turtle over there."Headed in the direction he said and sure enough there was my first turtle.
I headed back to The Leader to say thanks for the for the heads up on the heads down. This guy was definitely S.A.S. Serious about snorkeling. He had gloves on and as it was choppy I had my gloves on as well to push myself off the rocks if I got caught in the swell. Hoped he spotted that and recognised me as one of the gang. He had a bandana on which I thought was probably better than my backwards hat. He clearly out ranked me but was thinking I was putting on a good show til he pulled out a miniature that he had on a chain around his neck and took a slug of scotch.
He couldn't have been cooler if he was snorkeling in a leather jacket.
Then his mate turned up with a spear gun said it was getting busy on our bit of reef and off they went.
I swam back to the shallows upset that I had been dumped by the snorkeleratti but glad I could bask in the precious minutes of their episcopal radiance.

I thought the title said Leader Of The Gang, which would have no doubt been a more sinister encounter
