It's also raining in Yorkshire so it's for the best it's raining there.

No one would want you to get the wrong impression and think it's dark wet and grey this side of the watershed and sunlit uplands to the west.

even if cougar forgot

Honestly, it's just something I find difficult. I didn't recognise tthew because he had a hat on and it took me a beat to recognise Junkyard despite having met several times. I can totally relate to how no-one ever works out that Superman is Clark Kent. How can it possibly be the same person, only one of them wears glasses and their hair is combed slightly differently?!

(sorry for spoilers there)

I guessed she just took her ID lanyard off for the photo to be honest.

Is that an after-party?! Only the cool dudes get invited to those. 😢 (although I was home late enough anyway due to M60 overnight road closures).

Happy trails TJ.

I'm currently sat in an office halfway between Rammy and Hebden, and the sun is trying to come out (from behind a hill).

…also, if anyone suggests that on leaving Hebden you should go via Cragg Vale they should not be trusted.

You'll soon find out why I still ride triple front rings.

The cafe in Heptonstall is nice 🙂
Bit of a sporting climb from the valley though.....

I'm Santa btw for the benefit of any lingering doubt. 😀
Quite happy with that one.

If you rode to irwell vale on the old railway line then got on to river bank in that area the mud usually ends when you pass under the bypass. 🤔

If any STW staff read this and TJ pops in then please use him as a helmet model for any test helmets you have in

Well who’d have thunk it, to be able to navigate successfully you have to look at the map😈

Once you hit Rawtenstall, turn right.

DO NOT STOP IN BACUP.

Straight on at Bacup for Tod and the canal, or left for Cliviger and the higher level route over the tops to Hebden via Long Causeway (turn down by the Kettledrum pub).
Longer, more climbing, but unbelievable views.

For progress, I'd take the canal.
Once you climb up and over from Bacup towards Tod, the canal is at the bottom of the descent just before you hit the main road.

And once again, DO NOT STOP IN BACUP. 🙂

+1

TBH I'd avoid having to stop once you've arrived at Waterfoot.

It's all gone very quiet

I'm worried that tj has become another victim of the West Yorkshire border reivers

I was wondering if he had a visa for the crossing. He's probably on a plane to rawanda by now.

I think I saw you, have you a Scottish flag on the trailer….grinding up a steep hill just above the Tesco in Sowerby Bridge?

Edit, now seen the photo, yes you do. I nearly did shout out from the bright red Fiat 500, to see if it was you, but thought that might have been a bit, well, weird.

Edit edit, just to clarify, I have no idea what you look like, but I had read you were in this neck of the woods, and just wondered if it was a coincidence it might have been you on your travels.

If you're close to Sowerby Bridge there are some good pubs there and a great curry place called Syhiba
