So, I've agreed to drop off/collect my gf and her mate at Anfield tomorrow night (watching Elton John ffs!)

Anyway, what is there to fill my time locally? Whenever I've been to Liverpool on a Friday night (as a gigging musician) the place has always been like a giant stag/hen do so I'd probably discount going to get food in City Centre.

So, I can either sit somewhere quiet in my car with a naff takeaway and my book for a few hours (which is probably going to be quite hot tomorrow)

Or find somewhere quiet to go for food and read.

Or go climbing if there are any decent bouldering walls around there?

Drive to Formby and ride the beach on your fatbike.

Don't need to go as far as formby. Crosby marina would do, can ride down to Hightown and Hall Road.

Remember to take someone with you to walk with, ‘cos round Annfield (particularly at night I suspect) you never walk…

OK sorry everyone.

After the week I have had I also feel it is Time to Kill.

If you are doing the Anfield area, then I will probably keep my killing to the south of England. Okay?

Go into the Liverpool Stadium Shop and ask for a Man United shirt like one of my colleagues did many years ago? 🤣 - OK, he was from Singapore.

Sorry, I thought it was just time you’re looking to kill…

Head a few miles North to Crosby and have a wander up the beach and see Another Place (Anthony Gormley figures). Plenty of places to eat near there, the Victorian houses along Marine Terrace are also very beautiful. Can park at the Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre.
Awesome Walls isn’t far from Anfield if you want to do some climbing in a converted church.

I live by the beaches just down the road at Crosby / Waterloo, they are great for a chilled walk at any time and they are the site of the Antony Gormley "Another Place" statues which are always worth a look at.

Food wise, in the same are there are many restaurant / take away options in the same area, especially on South Road in waterloo, which runs off the beach.

That should kill some time, alternatively you could always drive to the city and avoid the "Stag Do crowd" by wandering around the Albert Docks.

Edit - Beaten to it by Andylc whist I was typing! Great minds.. 😉

Cheers folks. I think Climbing Hangar will be the way to go.

Sourdough pizza and a Beastmaker session should do the trick.

Go down near the Mersey and go and get wrecked/eat food in the Baltic Fleet pub.
My cousin Simon runs it.

Climbing Hangar gets good reviews from my (ex-)colleagues.

Given you'll have several hours, and CH closes by 10 pm, you could easily drive the 10 minutes on to Crosby Leisure Centre to watch the sun set (around 21:40-21:45) and see the Another Place statues as the light fades.

Make sure you have a rough place for pick up agreed. It can be pretty manic outside Anfield when turfing out. Some of the residents' permit parking restrictions around Stanley Park cease at 10 pm.

Cheers @konagirl yeah pick location is still tbc. My gf's mate gave birth 11 days ago, so not sure how much walking she's up for 😳

Apparently it's due to finish by 9:30 so I'm actually thinking that given the likely traffic, I might not actually have that much time to climb!

Ah I see it's quite an early show start. Sorry don't have any bright ideas for picking up.

Incase anybody was after a Climbing Hanger Matchworks review:

Staff: Super friendly

Training area: A few Beastmakers hung at fairly random heights.

Routes: Lots of variety. Usual coloured circuits, although no grades attached to said colours, just charts to highlight the relative difficulties.

I enjoyed the routes that I did. The purples and reds that I tried felt about V1-5 to me.

Pretty quiet, especially compared to Depot Manchester which is where I usually train. You'll love this @thegenralist there are downclimb jugs everywhere!!

Lovely vibe overall, totally different atmosphere to the 'topless V10 plus fest' at the Depot!

Cafe is superb to, just about to finish a pizza before heading back to Anfield.
