Building some shelves for my new shed. Looking for some (nominally) 50mm x 50mm treated, regularised or cls timber for frames, but can't seem to find it anywhere. Does it exist? I can get nom 50x75 for a work bench but using the same for shelves seems a bit of overkill. So what 50x50 treated is commonly available, or what should I use instead? And what sheet material is best for the actual shelves?
Trot down to your local builders merchant or timber yard and they'll have more 47x47 that you could shake a shitty 2x2 stick at.
Shelf material down to you really, OSB for shelves that are functional or ply or pineboard
B&Q do a 38x63 that is a nice size for shelves. They do it treated and untreated. The untreated is only a couple of quid a length and will be fine inside a shed. I know B&Q is not the best place to buy wood but they are open today and you can rummage through the pile for the best bits. For the shelf surface mine are mostly reclaimed ply. A few OSB. Either is fine. If you are buying new then B&Q will cut to size on their big panel saw. Saves a job and makes it easier to carry
I wish my kitchen was that clean!
