MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
It seems like my Lacie 2Big is on its last legs, and in order to stave off data loss (yes, it's all backed up, but a PITA to restore compared to cloning the still working Lacie) I need to replace it. Although it's mostly photos, I do occasionally do some heavier stuff that benefits from the bandwidth of a TB connection over USB3.
Can I (with appropriate adapters) connect a TB3/USBC drive to a TB2 port on a Mac? I'd rather have some forward compatibility as at some point the Mac itself will be upgraded. If so, any recommendations for TB3 enclosures? If not, ditto for TB2?
Do you know if the TB3 one is backwards compatible to TB2? I’d had thought a bus-powered one wouldn’t be given the extra power TB3 can deliver.
I _think_ when LaCie say thunderbolt, they mean thunderbolt 2.
I couldn't bring myself to buy one of the new macbooks and have to change all my kit, so TB2 is fine for me.
I have 2 of those drives, 1 USB C / thunderbolt 2 and one Firewire/USB C for an old imac.
I'll take a look tonight and see what my one says.
