In edinburgh we have wee transit connect vans that are all hi viz with a camera on top.
They only say SECURITY on them and nothing else.
Who are they and what are they keeping secure?
what are they keeping secure?
The camera on top?
Have you noticed how many Openreach vans there are around?...
Suspicious innit?
Probably local council security.
The vans are for your security.
Do not ask questions citizen.
Questions endanger security.
Funny you should say that, as recently I have noticed loads more about.
they are local council security, we have them over here in glasgow too, only they are called community safety units.
basically its a mobile cctv unit that they drive around in and watch people, they have also been known to park them in spots prone to muggings and pick pockets like big big shopping streets at xmas
cheaper then proper cctv
A couple of years back, I was filming with the Gadget Show in Eburg, and we had a police car and one of those vans as an escort. Filming was dragging on a bit, so he got bored and did what he said he usually did when he got bored - parked up, extended the mast, and amused himself by peering through people's windows...
Ha ha! Well you would, wouldn't you?
Down here in Plymouth the City Council have a Corsa with a roof-mounted camera mast - vehicle is used for parking enforcement.
parked up, extended the mast, and amused himself

Lots in Sotty, always have been, better than static cameras where crims know not to hang out.
Couple over the road at the moment.

Yeah, thats all to do with the infinity upgrade of their broadband, no?
Trying to get everyone on Fibre..
They're council; see them doing rounds of the schools and office buildings at night.
It's the Troll Wardens doing their rounds.....
Seeing a lot more of those dvla camera vans around as well, pretty efficient way of targeting the suburbs. Come out in the morning rushing to work, or for the school run and the car's been clamped- makes people think pretty damned hard about the value for money of evasion.
