Just noticed that here, and only here, it keeps offering me loads of foreign letters while I'm typing which slows things right down.

Anyone else?

Nope. But I'm not seeing any major lag either.

When you say foreign letters, do you mean like the ones you get when you hold down a key?

No issues here for me either. I'm on a 4S, what about yourselves? My 3GS was particularly slow I seem to recall.

This is what i have been saying for a while. Its here only where I have the issue.

I typed out mega emails on safari for work using Exchange webmail and have no issues what so ever. No other sites give me problems.

Mods - could this be looked at - do any of you have iPhones that you could at least use to do some testing?

iP4 running iOS 5.0.1 normally the issue is worse towards end of a line of text.

Same here. iOS 5.01, laggier than winter proof pipes, annoying++. Not noticed anywhere else on the web, although I bet there are similar.

Teasting with my 4S fine here but think my 3GS may have had some.

Oi, DD! That was nearly a coffee-iOS device interaction moment, NOT going to help my lag issues! 😆

I have more lags than an episode of a prison based drama from the 1970s, which starred Ronnie Barker*

*I don't have any lag as still on 4.3**, but wanted to join in.

**As a result, Adult Friend Finder runs fine.

So if I'm on a 3GS, I shouldn't bother updating to IOS5?

Mrs' 3GS is absolutely fine with iOS 5. If anything it feels a little snappier in places. But some folk on the other thread said theirs were running slow for some reason.

Not getting bad keyboard lag here. Happily typing this out on an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 - occasional stutter of a few letters, but I just keep typing and it catches up.

My 3GS is fine (on 5 and now 5.0.1), occasionally I get a slight lag flicking between screens that I didn't used to have but typing is fine.

I'll look into this. So the main issues seem to be page load and commenting?

Is this an iPhone only issue or is it iPad also?

For me it is manageable to read threads but to comment on them it is unusable. First few words you can type in but as sentences go on the delay gets worse.

EDIT - iP4 - iOS 5.0.1 (5.0 was the same)

Main issue for me is specifically text entry, getting worse the more text I enter. Not noticed any other specific issues, except that pressing back goes back to an old verion of the main page. (I think that's a known safari glitch though.) iPhone 4, iOS 5.01

Thanks for looking into it, good luck!

+1

Though my Rainbow Six online play seems to be laggy now. Not sure in coincides with the ios5 upgrade or if it's Gamelofts servers.

I've tested this on iPad, iPad 2 and iPhone 4 (I'm typing this on the iPad 1). I can't see any issues other than the poor ish JavaScript rendering I've noticed on recent iOS devices.

Could those having problems try quitting any other programmes that may be multitasking and let me know if the problem persists?

Edit: all my devices are on 5.0.1

Why don't you just install a different keyboard? ... Oh.

(-:

That's an interesting point actually. Does anyone that is experiencing the lag have a Bluetooth keyboard they could pair to the iPhone/Pad and try? Might be interesting to see if that lags too.

Just quit every other programme on my iPhone4 and it hasn't really worked. The text still appears; just a couple of seconds after I've typed it.

dublD: right try clearing out your internet cache (Settings->Safari, Clear History and Clear Cookies), then kill Safari from the background and try again.

Yeh so does mine but it's incredibly annoying and clearly not right.

Clearing histroy/cookies to make a website work isn't ideal either.

Not tried it on the iPad but I'll give it a go tonight.

I think some are seeing it more pronounced than others. It's just a bit stuttery on mine sometimes (sub-half a second delay), others are reporting several second lag or completely unusable.

Agreed, I'm just trying to help diagnose it.

Alrighty. So it's not that. Now try doing the same thing but this time turn off the Javascript switch as well.

Same bit - Settings->Safari. Scroll down a bit and there is a switch for it.

Done that. Still a bit laggy. And I'm getting random bits of text what look like has been written by geeks around the page.

Should I upgrade to premier? I bet that's it.

Interrrrresting. I've done the same thing but I don't see any random text/code around the page.

Should I upgrade to premier? I bet that's it.

It might well be - assuming the "random text" is Javascript relating to the ads, which I don't get as a Premier member.

Final test: turn Javascript back on and also turn on Debug Console (Settings->Safari->Advanced) - let's see if it reports any weird errors.

Debug Console reports No Errors.

All the quote buttons are gone though since I turned off JavaScript 🙁

Yeah they would be. They are Javascript 😀

Turn Javascript back on and see if the Debug Console reports anything.
