Depends how much. Had Thinkpads for work for years and they've always been good, even becoming Lenovo hasn't hurt the quality.

would you not rather get an iPad? *runs from forum with hands over head*

😆

I have an x200 from work, and although I am a fully paid up, card carrying, screaming apple fanboi, I think thinkpads are still the best designed windows laptops.

I would.

Most 'branded' laptops are a safe bet these days apart from Sony (overpriced and too proprietary) and Fujitsu (cos they're gash).

No. For that money I'd buy a Mac book Air.

I have 2 macs, but I now need to run 1 application of windows, and I need to update my G4 laptop, and to be honest, the x201i looks far better value for the money.
And I'm sort of becoming anti - mac, they are the new MS

I had an X61 years ago, and it was amazing.. lasted ages, now it's running Linux 😀

If you wanted to get rid of the X61 I'd be interested!

brassneck, I thought that, but I can buy an X201i for almost half the price of a Macbook Pro, it doesn't make (financial) sense, to buy one.
I'm looking for a good, lightweight laptop, and as I have to pay for it myself, this seems a good one. The only thing I don't like is no built in camera... but I'll save enough to buy a nice one

I'm a thinkpad fan (use them at work and are great) but if you're paying near the £900-£1K that a simple google comes up with then I'd not bother 🙂
