Leaving aside plastic bags, reuseable right-on jute shopping bags and things like sunglasses bags/sleeping bag stuff sacks etc, Mrs North and I (and now Baby North) seem to be trying to establish a world record collection of bags and luggage.

A quick reckoning (without actually checking), we have between us:

2 x suitcases
2 x rucksacs
1 x sports holdall
4 x backpacks
2 x satchels
8 x handbags (at least!)
1 x leather work bag
2 x messenger work bags
1 x messenger bag (bike use)
1 x work trolley bag
1 x travel tote bag
2 x hydration packs
2 x panniers
1 x baby changing bag

I think I better re-think my *need* for a new commuting bag.... 🙄

Camera bags are a problem. I just disposed of 5 in a car boot sale and I still seem to have a mountain of them 🙁

rucksac = big for camping, etc.

backpack = small (up to 30L)

Leather work bag is Mrs North's - fits a laptop and godknowswhatelse!

You should call Stoner for advice, he's a rucksack fetishist. Don't let him get anywhere near an outdoor shop, he starts drooling...

backpack == daysack then?

Hmmm. I have a fair number of bags too, but equally split between stuff issued to me (and therefore useless/banned from everyday use) and stuff I have bought.

The latter category consists of:
Large record bag
Small record bag
Medium record bag (daysack style)
Camelbak
laptop bag
Old rucksac
sportsbags x2
kit bag (used for shooting kit)
range bag (see above)

Dear gods. I'm getting as bad as the wife!

edited to add the dive bag (broken)

1 x sports holdall

2 x handbags (at least!)
1 x messenger work bags

I've just totted up the total of my list - that's 30 bags, of which at least 12 are mine.

Leaving aside the handbags, I own more bags than Mrs North.

OMG 😯

1x Crumpler camera bag
1x Crumpler messenger bag
1x Howies Chevron bag
1x Animal 70L wheelie bag (too big for average holiday use I've realised)
1x 40L Eastpack Wheelie bag (just right for a long weekend/week away typre trip)
1x Eastpack man bag - strictly for use on the continent 😛
1x Old Animal ruckack (small school bag stylee)
1x Camelbak
1x O'neil sports holdall too small for a week away more of a couple of nights, size.
1x Pannier 32l

I think that's it, and that's just me, I couldn't possibly go into the wife's collection.

Those cost of mine is bad enough but the cost of hers ... doesn't bare thinking about. Her new shoes have pretty much given me the all clear for an ipad though, if I decide I really NEED one!

Actually, now you've got me thinking about bags I need a new laptop one, and a gym one and probably an ever-so-slightly bigger weekend bag.

Open to offers from you hoarders!

I think any woman would look at this collection of bags and concede that you're a rank amateur at it. Especially as you probably don't have 3 pairs of shoes to match each one

Oh no, ourkidsam, you can't have any of mine. They're mine, mine, mine and so what if I'm going to end up unable to get out of my front door Life of Grime style.

Ah yes, the old "it doesn't matter how fat I get eating chocolates all day, I can still buy shoes and handbags" affliction that all women seem to suffer from.

my wife has her 'can't leave the house without' possesions randomly distributed amongst about 6 handbags at any one time.

I've started suggesting she brings all 6 with her each time we go out rather than try and consolidate the contents every time.

1 x 12 year old Timbuk II Deedog.
1 x Camelbak.
1 x Karrimor Jaguar backpack.
1 x Bikebag (I have occasionally slept inside this).

Many, many, many plastic bags. 8)

What she needs is a bag for her handbags.

Obviously. 😀

Jesus, I'm not even going to start counting but I reckon it would be similar to ourmaninthenorth's list above...there's always a niche on one's life for which you don't yet have a bag.

Er, at least one of those in my list is a man bag.

But it's a cheapo one, and not like the £300 Mulberry job an ex-colleague bought himself. Even the couldn't-be-camper bloke that sold it to him said it looked "a little, er, continental". 🙂

I was thinking about this earlier - has Bunnyhop ever considered branching out into the custom bike bags (like Revelate Designs)?

We actually need a room for our bags. The amount we have is obscene.

In the rucksac department we have:
3 camelbaks,
3 outdoor rucksacs,
1 camera bag rucksac.

I also have 10's of handbags, but that is stock for my business.

Mmm - Bike bags made out of linen, suede with maybe a lace trim. I don't think so 🙂

I've started doing bunting for babies rooms if you're interested OMITN? They look pretty with custom child's name.
I should imagine there isn't much room on the wall to hang bunting though with all the bags.

P.S nbt only had one bag - me!

My girlfriend - at last count - has over 90 handbags. I don't know why.

Fortunately they aren't uber expensive ones, but there is between £4-5k worth.

molgrips - we only have a blog at the moment, which isn't all up to date ( I've been too busy with the bags, bunting and mini pinnies).

Can send out some pictures if you're interested.
