Staying near Sefton Park for three nights midweek.
Yay for Tesco vouchers!
Looking for decent places to eat and drink, any must do local places etc.
Comedy clubs?
Nice restaurants?
Not been for ages so a bit clueless these days.
Looking to hit the usual tourist stuff, museums and galleries, sightseeing etc.
Looked at a few older threads but all advice welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Lark Lane, right next to sefton park, really cosmopolitan, loads of bars and restaurants, must do Keith's and The Albert. Was there last night myself.
In city centre stay around Seel St for bars. Also check out Almost Famous on Parr St, absolutely outstanding burgers!!
I drive a black cab (for another few weeks before I'm back to a career type job) in my great city so feel free to email me if you want specific info.
The Slaughterhouse on Fenwick St has regular comedy nights.
Bakchich Lebanese Street Food Restaurant on Bold St is great for lunch and people watching if you can get a window seat.
Casa Italia on Stanley St a great informal authentic Italian.
The Tavern Co on Smithdown Rd do the best breakfasts I've had anywhere.
Spend a good few hours around the dock, some fantastic buildings to see. The liverpool museum is free and interesting. Pub on the dock is relatively cheap and interesting to sit outside of.
Cheers folks.
Chinatown worth punt for daytime food?
Nice town centre pubs or bars for later on?
Old and interesting rather than chrome and leather if poss.
The White Star
The Beehive
The old Post Office. (and the pubs near it)
Cheers for the info, lots to go at.
Thanks.

The Alicia?
Yeah, it's the only one on the deal.
We won't be in much, tbh.
Buy you a pint if you're about?
Check out the city bikes by Sefton Park and ride along the seafront to the Albert Dock/town. Think you have to set up an account. Easy pleasant way into the city. Backchich is great food the lamb kebab thing is fantastic. No beer sold so lunch is best. Fact cinema for films and decent bar. If you go to Keith's take a paint brush. Its gone from shabby chic to shabby. The Slaughterhouse is good but arrive early or you may end up sat on the stage which is plain scary depending whose on. For outsiderness get the train to West Kirby on the Wirral and walk to Hilbre Island.
The tavern breakfast has weird sausages so be on the lookout !!! Que pasa on lark lane is a nice Mexican place , bit further south towards Garston 5 mins in a cab try madhari for indian cuisine
Ha ha steak burritos at Que Pasa gave me terrific farts! Been meaning to go to Madhari for ages now.
There is a place called leaf on bold street which is really cool with great food and drinks. http://thisisleaf.co.uk/gallery/
Highly recommend it
Maritime museum at Albert Dock - the Titanic exhibition and the slavery museum are both excellent.
http://frontend.citybikeliverpool.co.uk/LandingPage.aspx for the cheap gre hire bikes, and plenty to hire,
Albert Dock, st Georges hall, mersey ferries, liverpool 1 shoping centre, the areas around Dale and Victoria street if you like arcitecture and beutiful buildings, everyman theatre, just won a arcitecture award, the two cathederals, with the everyman in between, St Johns tower, the huge cylinder with a radio station and viewing gallery at the top, off Like street, crosby iron men , Gormleys partially underwater sculptures.
all easily accesable by bike, eg city bikes.
Just a quick note to say thanks everyone.
Had a fantastic time.
🙂
Didn't get to see half of the stuff we'd planned, so going back again in a few weeks.
The new Liverpool Museum on the front is excellent, isn't it?
Spent most of the day in there and still didn't get to see it all.
Tate was spot on as well, but the highlight was watching the Philharmonic rehearsing in the Cathedral - fantastic.
Once again, cheers folks, much appreciated.
Just ell everyone with some culture in them that LIVERPOOL is the place to visit, for a greeat weekend away.
