Terribly sad; a top quality bass player who didn't grab the limelight, but left a huge impression.

Gutted. Of course Morrissey and Marr got the headlines but without the rhythm section of Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce the sound wouldn't have been there.

I started playing bass in lockdown, and to be able to play few Smiths iconic lines was part of the goal. There is a light being one, I'll be plugging in for that later.

Andy Rourke was 59 and Hand In Glove was 40 this month. It’s insane that Rourke (and Marr) had that much talent at 18 / 19 years old.

RIP man.

Very sad.
Awful to read that, despite the bass playing being a massive part of The Smiths sound Morrissey and Marr tried to stop Rourke getting any song writing royalties. ****ers
RIP
