As an extra option to do a bit of exercise when the weather is proper shite, was considering joining the new 24/7 [url= http://www.thegymgroup.com/find-a-gym/gym/the-gym-peterborough/ ]TheGymGroup[/url] gym that will be opening soon in my neck of the woods. £10.99 with no contract seems a no-brainer.
I know it probably varies greatly from location to location, but does anyone have any experience of this new breed of el cheapo gyms?
Mr Poddy joined their Farnborough Gym IIRC and rated it.
Im a member at the Guildford one. No complaints. Its very busy at peak times. Its no frills, no pool, sauna etc. Ive never used any of the classes to comment.
On the plus side, there is no persistant, pushy sales team to pass through, unlike LA fitness and the like. No contract is handy. If you arent going to use it for a while, you can reduce your payment to £5 a month so as to avoid another joining fee if you decide to use it again.
Its open 24hrs which means you can go after the pub and heckle.
Council gym's are often ~£20/month (Reading ones are anyway) and have pools.

The joining fee's as much as a small car, but it keeps the rif raff out 🙂
