I've got a North Face Hy-Vent(?) Jacket. A couple of Montane jackets- one thats like wearing a sleeping bag.

None of these do it for me. Just 'ok'.

What I want is something akin to returning to the womb. Can be thrown on from the muddy boot of the car in -15degrees, thrown on in a Welsh cold remote carpark after a long day out in the outdoors, can be worn down the high st in a wet blizzard etc etc.

Recommendations? I want it last 10yrs.

Not a Snugpak- too builder/armyish

Regatta or Craghoppers.

You will be surprised they are rather good and cheap or reasonably priced.

Just like any of the branded plastic stuff they too will do the job but cheaper.

😀

Get yourself over to the PHDesigns winter sale (though you'll still need to dig into your piggy bank).

My £25 Regatta Landscape parka is the dangly bits of the dogs. Waterproof and bloody warm, I am genuinely impressed by it

+1 or Paramo Adventure Smock. Both a lot of warmth with not much bulk. More likeley to be worn out in those long days in the outdoors than after.

Sounds like you want a 70's vagina. Even if you could find one now I bet you would just sell it in 3 months....Tried Alpha Industries?

Rab Batura, for when its wet AND cold, and I meancold. The rest of the time a Alpkit Filo, which probably won't last 10 yrs, but at £120 you can't beat it.

No - born in '70!!! Why a 70's model in particular?!

(I wondered whether perhaps you'd intended something else and your spellchecker had taken over!)

FFS how much does it cost to put a practical chest pocket?

For those puffer/quilt jacket? You will be lucky if they last more than 5 years without tearing. 😮

CWU45/P flying jacket. My favourite jacket, but far too hot in mild weather, I've walked home from town on a bitterly cold windy day and had to change my tee shirt 'cos it was soaked through down the back.
Mine's a genuine milspec jacket, there are cheaper nylon ones about, but I found mine for £80. New they're at least £300. The difference is mine's Nomex, not nylon.
Great in the car, until the heater warms up.
