[Closed] The sickening state of our society...
So we had Saville today, but have you seen this:

Yeah its sick alright, but whats more sickening is the fact that people stood around and let it happen in front of a 2yo as well, while video it on their ****ing phone.
For gods sake whats wrong with the world!
I'd agree with your sentiments, but not your thread title - hardly "our society" on a British forum, about an incident which happened on a different continent...
I guess my reference to is to "Human Society".
.
Gotta love young Mr Prickles! :o)
You know, in the 17th century people were publicly executed...pretty much for the entertainment of onlookers as well as justice.
So I'm fairly confident that todays society is better than it ever has been.

So you'd class the Salem Witch Trials as the nadir of human society?
Worse even than 'Tommy Walsh's Eco House'?
This was released in 1956.
It's all been downhill since then.

Try googling Jungle Justice, the one about a 12 yo boy in Lagos.

I know - I've been asking for a separate forum for this sort of thing for ages.
BTW ton's 28 kids thread should keep you hand-wringing for a while.

Well done the onlooker for videoing this.
The tendency in this country when passing stuff like this is to avert your eyes and cross the street to avoid.
t people stood around and let it happen
Most of the onlookers appear to be children
theres a peculiar aspect of human nature that the more onlookers there are in a situation like this the less likely any one of them will intervene - some herd/social element of our psyche seems to paralyse everyone. Saying or thinking at a distance or with hindsight that you would act differently is self deluding, nobody knows how they'd act if they were standing there. They'd know what they should do but you don't get to make a conscious choice as to whether you actually do it or not
