Tis true - trees are awesome.

A patch of woodland intersected by a small river-waterfall combo really was my Play Station all the way through summer when I was a kid.

Happy days.

Used to love climbing trees when I was a kid we were lucky to have a valley at the end of our street,we could spend all day down there making dams, playing in the stream, not the same now to many paedos and freaks around to let kids do the same.

If you went back to the time I played in trees and showed me a Playstation, I'd have been blown away.

Playing all day without a care is good, tree or playstation are both good.

Meh, I was never hugely into climbing trees, had more fun making increasingly large kickers for me and my mates to ride our bikes off ๐Ÿ™‚

I read it as being tongue in cheek. Although there are a lot of people who believe this rubbish that the media spout...

edited to add - Why can't I quote two posts? It comes out okay on the preview post, but not in the live forum? Very odd.

I think my childhood and adolescence were spent waiting for a ZX Spectrum to load from cassette, trying to jump off ramps on a BSO BMX and riding around the local rural roads on my Raleigh Winner trying to find hedgepron.

Oh and Lego was involved too.

Me too. And blow stuff up. In fact a normal 70s childhood would get you put in a orange jumpsuit and water-boarded now.

I grew up next to an explosive factory that was by the sea.

Amazing what you would find washed up on the beach of a summer evening

All under 10 and we were out all day, playing in twoods ..
Dens were the favourite - even better at harvest time when bale dens proved easy and fun - 2 to lift a bale mind ..
Still got a few scars - wouldn't get them on a playstation ๐Ÿ™„

Partially tongue in cheek but how many parents on here would be happy to let there kids play in some woods unchecked nowadays,as thats what we did in the 70's?

I challenge people today to try and keep up with a sporting event using Teletext, especially if the scores are on 4 pages!
