[Closed] The new Google Hangout thing on Gmail..
Google talk used to tell you if people were on or offline, or idle. I can't seem to tell with the new browser plugin thing.

Works for me. We've been using hangouts between my colleagues and I for 12 months now. It's fantastic. We use the google mail page to see when we're online, or set our own availability.
Yes but the list of people in the mail window doesn't seem to show if they are online or not.
hmm. mine seems fine.
what browser are you using?
Chrome. How does it show you? Some kind of green dot or what?
Oh wait.. now I see it.. little green line.
would a grumpy luddite git need to investigate this "service" at all ?
If they dont have video call capabilities, then they show as green dots instead of green video cameras.
So in this snap shot, A contact with a camera is online, I have an active chat session with another, a video capable contact is busy, another contact who doesnt have video is busy and a handful dont have a current status.
The service works great with later model android phones as well as I can video call from it (on wifi or 3G) just like I can as if I were at my desk using a webcam.
And then there was the Brant Richards Rum Friday hangout with quite a lot of people from around the world drinking rum on a friday afternoon and talking bollox...
Stoner that is not what I see on my screen. I just see their mugshots, and as it turns out when they come online a little green line.
Those icons in your pic are the ones I used to see in the old version.
