Have I missed something?

#edit - just checked BBC. I suppose they abstained.

seven of the 36 will be Sinn Fein of course - so you're only looking for 29 absconders / abstainers

thrilled and disappointed to be reported.. however i believe its a legitimate question. a little googling though has revealed where party lines are followed the voting is normally in the order of 315 v 293.. leading us back to where/who are the missing 30 to 40 mps? almost every time a vote is called..

If you take any group of 650 employees there will be a number unavailable at any one time due to sickness leave, parental leave, working away elsewhere (i.e. overseas) etc. Take away the Sinn Feinn numbers then thats less than 5% missing, not that bad really.

So you’re saying they haven’t gone away, then?

Check who is at the bottom of this list. http://www.publicwhip.org.uk/mps.php?sort=attendance

There's also the speaker and 3 deputies, who don't usually vote.
