My only thought of the last episode was I'll be ****ed if I could be arsed to bury them.
Do we have spoilers appearing? Not necessary!
yeah. I'm guessing most of the people loving it are fans of the games. As mentioned above, there's no sense of danger/peril at all for the two main characters so that dulls the edge somewhat, and everyone else they meet seems to be a redshirt so there's no chance of any character development. 😂 Nick Offerman ep was great though, hopefully they'll do more like that.I’m completely at a loss about why people rave about this, it’s ordinary verging on dull at times.
That's the central problem of a faithful game to tv adaptation. By its nature, in the game you move forwards as Joel and Ellie, and no other character can join that 'quest' for more than a brief period. You always have to be progressing to different areas/challenges, so you can't have a proper relationship with the non-player characters. They've tried to get around it by featuring extended back stories, but I'm not sure it quite succeeds.
That said, bit disappointed they've not translated 'endlessly dying to a boss and going back to the last checkpoint until you chuck your controller at the telly' into the tv series.

I'd never heard of the game until this came out. I was skeptical about trying to make a tv show based on a game, although Halo was quite decent. I find The Last of Us entertaining, but it's obvious that the format requires them to overcome a sequence of opponents and obstacles. In a way, it's similar to Quantum Leap, where there's no doubt that the leaper will figure out how to solve the problem at hand. Pedro Pascal and Lyanna Mormont are well-cast, so are the rest of the cast. It's not the greatest show on tv but it's entertaining enough to look forward to the next episode.
Halo was absolutely terrible except for the odd battle scene (and only because I was a massive Halo fan BITD!) 😃Halo was quite decent.
exactly, I'm still watching it! It's good but not great. It’s not the greatest show on tv but it’s entertaining enough to look forward to the next episode.
Still loving it. Just spotted this great illustration by Stan Chow

You could read the thread, then you wouldn't have to guess 😛
I wonder if Sky think it's amusing to show Pedro doing the wine adverts in the breaks on Sky Atlantic. It's annoying!
At least he looks happier with a wine bottle in his hand.
At least he looks happier with a wine bottle in his hand.
He looks really happy in the Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
I stayed up till 2am to watch the latest episode. I wasn't disappointed, another great one.👍
Really enjoyed this episode, I didn't like the character Ellie to start with but as the episodes go by I really like her more and more. I also really like that Bella Ramsey looks like an everyday normal person and not some dainty model.
Jeez, that was a powerful one.
^^ Completely agree, I found Ellie a real struggle for the first 2 episodes but she's developed into a great and occasionally very funny character!
Was the 3 month "time hop" in the game too, does anybody know?
It just keeps getting better and better
The whole things is a world away from what I expected
Really enjoying this!
So last week's episode was ok but nothing special in my opinion.
This week's...
Holy molly. 😲
And Joel at the end, when he calls her that. 🥹
Last episode of the season next week.
that was pretty intense!
Still really enjoying it, but felt this episode was a bit rushed. Could have easily been another episode of this bit of the story
Bloody hell, that was tense!!
Absolutely brilliant, yet again!
Absolutely cracking episode.

Holy moly.
Agreed! Also wanted to re-post swear 😀
it was pretty full on, agreed it could have easily been 2 episodes.
i still think ep3 was one of the best bits of TV I've even had the pleasure of watching.
Just caught up, great episode which sticks pretty closely to the game.
Knowing some of what's coming from the game, there's some great TV to come. Both in the final episode of this series and (hopefully) in the next to cover the Last of us 2.
Was the 3 month “time hop” in the game too, does anybody know?
Part 1 does on occasion. You'll finish a chapter and the next will be captioned 'Winter' and the story has moved on a few months. Still pretty linear though. Part 2 is very different.
Caught up on the last 2 episodes last night. Still think it's great.
Just watched the last two episodes back to back. Epic…
Got confused in episode 3 with the 6 hour love scene, gave up after that. Talk about one of the slowest series I've ever watched. It just dragged on and on. Never heard of the game but when some of you were raving about it, I thought I'd try it.
Brilliant stuff. Savage last episode.
It appears there will be another series! 😀
It was very good. First person shooter section was definitely a wink at the audience... And obv at least another series. I dunno how the game ends but it seemed unlikely they'd find a cure and everyone go home, what with some of the horrendous mutations... https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/fungal-nail/
I've played through the game(s) multiple times and I'm still on the fence about the tv series. It manages to move both faster and slower than the game - there are large, memorable, parts of the game that are missing from the show (and tbf possibly wouldn't map over to a show very well). There's also a distinct lack of zombies. The characters in the show also feel a little shallow to me but I'm pretty sure that's because I've sunk hours and hours into the games, which aren't as limited in time to tell the story.

Infected, if you don't mind 🙂 I thought that actually - expected a right ol zombie-fest in the last ep, I mean infected-fest.
Enjoyed it up until the last episode - felt rushed after the story telling thus far.
Also if the last episode is how the game ended I think I would've done things differently.
the last 2 episodes could have easily been 3-4.
still a cracking show, looking forward to seeing what they do with season 2, playing through it now and I have a feeling they may not mirror it a closely as they did this season.
Also if the last episode is how the game ended I think I would’ve done things differently.
Can a human really bite through a pair of jeans? Just wear two pairs of jeans and two denim jackets, a big pair of boots, motorbike gloves and helmet. So far all the bites have been on forearms, legs and torsos.
In last nights episode, they ran through the building without a care in the world. And those giraffes would have been killed and eaten!
And if you found 1 human who was immune, you would do far more less intrusive tests before going straight for removing the brain but it's following the computer game so I get that.
Despite a few annoying things I'm still enjoying it.
Its kind of the opposite to the walking dead. TWD started with zombies that killed everyone but in the end they were taken out in a second and it moved towards surving against the living. I think TLOU will be the opposite and it will move towards surving the infected and they will play a bigger part.
Roll on season 2!
@chvck - I would've put down my controller & walked away leaving the game incomplete. 😀
Was good, enjoyed it overall, no real weaknesses in the show, it felt rushed as they went through the first game in one season, now setting up part 2 for season 2, which will bring along a whole host of issues for the show unfortunately.
Can't really put it up against other stuff like the walking dead, that was a show that started on a tight budget and was slowed down to save money, i.e. having them on one set for a long time, such as the farm, the prison and so on, and went on far too long.
Will be interesting to see the developments for the show, they seem to have set into the show early the reality that the dead/infected aren't the issue, it's the society that comes after devastation, TWD took a couple of seasons to do that, TLOU did it in the pilot.
Got confused in episode 3 with the 6 hour love scene
Translated to - "Ep 3 was 45 minutes that inflamed a bad case of homophobia"
It’s a ‘meh’ from me. I had misgivings over the them that they cast to play Ellie. Them has eyes like a shark, rather than the open expressive Ellie from the games.
Constant virtue signalling throughout the season, and you can’t help but feel that your are constantly being preached to.
Pedro absolutely nails it, though. He almost saves it. All in all a travesty given how good the games were!

2/10 Good trolls at least try to be funny.
Cracking finale.
Constant virtue signalling throughout the season, and you can’t help but feel that your are constantly being preached to.
Virtue signalling? Don’t kill innocent people, don’t became a cannibal that sort of thing?
Thought the casting is spot on for Part 1, i think Bella Ramsey was good in the role of Ellie, but it's going to be a struggle in Season 2 and onwards, as i don't think she's going to change much, whereas Ellie changes a hell of a lot between it. Will be interesting how they do it, we know if they stick with the game we'll lose one main character, that leaves a lot of show on someone who might not be the best fit after the age jump of the character.
But, will wait and see, it's a little annoying getting into it knowing what's coming, same with the Ned Stark or the red wedding i guess!
but it’s going to be a struggle in Season 2 and onwards, as i don’t think she’s going to change much, whereas Ellie changes a hell of a lot between it.
Bella Ramsey is currently 19 years old, playing a 14 year old. Ellie is 19 in part 2.
I really don't see that being an issue...
Also, spoilers, please. Those who've played the games know what happens in the story but a lot don't.
Them?
Blimey; if you are bothered by the gender of a character then you've got a fair few issues that need to be resolved.

The game character develops quite a bit, Bella will still look exactly the same, she has that benefit of being able to play someone younger, but she will still be the same size and looks in season 2, it's a bit like the reverse curse of child actors having to be replaced as they get bigger.
The bigger issue for me though is that can she lead a show like this, the one thing that's been noticeable is that you have the main two characters, then every other character is kind of in it for one episode, it's not really got the 'original' cast size that other shows have, where they can then whittle down over the seasons, this one will be introducing new characters, then pretty much losing them quick.
