the truculent teen.

is excellent.

I agree, had me laughing at some of her responses last night. Enjoying this series even though I had no previous knowledge of the game.

As someone with zero investment in the game, found ep2 a bit slow & very much re-treading ground already explored (at great length!) in Walking Dead, etc.
Keen to see what twist they put on it though and what the next level episode brings 😃

I was going to ask, is it something that would be more rewarding if you're familiar with the games?

I have the original on the PS3 but I think I've spent a total of about one evening with it.

I get the feeling there are a fair few "Easter eggs" aimed at fans (such as the lighting effect 😃)

Never seen the game. Loving the series, being from a game doesn't seem relevant at all. Walking Dead was just dull.

Same for me. So far, it's a decent action drama. If I didn't know it was from a game, I wouldn't have guessed. I don't think I made it past Ep 1 of Walking Dead. Never been into zombie stuff, this works for me because it downplays the horror side of stuff.

I started TLOU (the original) in 2017 and only finished it last weekend because I wanted to start on Pt2 before I binge the series when S1 wraps up.

The game itself has I think been re-released twice since 2013; Remastered = PS4/Pro enhanced, and Part 1 = PS5 enhanced. It's brilliant, whichever version you play. Possibly not imperative to watching the TV series, but there's certainly some back story in there.

Never seen the game.

Me neither. Last thing I played was Doom, probably. But I'm guessing that the plot (get from A to B avoiding obstacles and killing the odd zomb) is fairly gamey? The young lass is british btw, as are so many actors in US dramas.

Ah, so the new "... Part 1" is a remaster of the original game, not a new game? I didn't know that.

Correct, guessing they changed the naming to better fit with the 2nd game "Part 2".

You know it's a good game when it's been remastered/remade twice!

Again, really enjoyed it. They seem to have worked very hard to nail the feel of the game. The locations, lighting, effects etc. are spot on.  The 'clickers' were absolutely perfect!

Even though though I sort of know what's going to happen (if it continues to to stick to the game script), it's very entertaining TV.

I thought the early episodes of Walking Dead were OK, then it totally lost it's way, becoming dull, repetitive and predictable. This is way, way better IMO.

Definitely no Walking Dead, thankfully sad that was very slow and got boring very quickly.

Forest from Devs for me. Still, completely not what I expected from a zombie show based on a video game.

cracking EP3 that. very much enjoying this.
I was edge of my seat wondering who was going to kill who first before starting to think they may have a happy ending (pun semi intended).

Bit of a change from the Game's story but also a massive expansion on Bill's story. Loved it. They really are knocking these episodes out the park!

Do you get Sky Atlantic on NowTV? I believed it was a proper Sky exclusive channel? Its been a few years since I had Now and it wasn't showing Sky Atlantic back then?

Never played the game, but found some of the game 'devices' a bit weird and immersion-breaking. Rubble falling down behind the characters to stop them avoiding a fight, for example.

I'm not sure the landscape near Boston looks like that, either...

Ep4.

Another good one, maybe a little more filler than the rest but still fantastic!

Really sticking to the events of the game, the magazine in the car, the joke book, and so on...

Seemed a short episode, but yeah, great. Lotte Kestner on the end credits too, which is a link to part II I think.

Great TV, I enjoyed the first few seasons of the walking dead before it ran out of plot but this is a different league. Watching with my 16yo daughter who hasn't played the game but watched various walk throughs. Insists on breaking to show how well it replicates the game and how well it doesn't too (Episode 3).

Released as there’s some sort of American sport on this Sunday.

Absolutely cracking episode.

Superbowl weekend, where one game of football can last almost the entire weekend!

Was a good episode, not bloated at all 😉

Brilliant.  Just keeps on getting better.  Awesome stuff.

I've played both games on the PS4 (not quite finished the second game yet, but not far to go) and it makes for great viewing.  And if you haven't played the games it matters not one jot - it's still great 👍

I'm completely at a loss about why people rave about this, it's ordinary verging on dull at times. I enjoyed Ep 3 because there was actually a bit of characterisation, even if it was a bit unsubtle.

Definitely starting to think it's just not for me!

I'm really enjoying it, although I'm a bit concerned by the fact you know the central two characters aren't going to die but anyone else almost certainly isn't going to survive for more than an episode or two. In contrast The Walking Dead (before it went crap after a 3 or 4 seasons) developed the peripheral characters a lot more before suddenly killing them off so you actually cared about them a bit when it happened. Hopefully the format will change a bit though once they reach their current destination (I'm not actually familiar with the plot of the game, I hope it's not continual travelling to new places and meeting different styles of baddie humans each time, as TWD already did that)
