I know not everyone's obsessed with the Last of Us games - but I'm guilty of wasting hours playing them and I'm very much looking forward to this dropping in Jan 🙂
Oooh...!! Loved the games. Will this be on Prime or Netflix?
Sky Atlantic - https://www.standard.co.uk/culture/tvfilm/the-last-of-us-hbo-max-pedro-pascal-bella-ramsey-b1044819.html

Not played the games but Pedro Pascal can seemingly do no wrong at the moment so this looks pretty good!

They were very 'cinematic' to play and had a great story - so I have high hopes!
Jeez, another shitting zombie shooting game spin off. Nein danke. Does the originality of TV execs know no beginnings?
I think you'll find it's "shooting zombies" not shitting 😉
Thoughts? I enjoyed the first one, shows a lot of promise. I'll be sticking with it for now. Atmospheric, sticks to the game plot pretty closely (from what I can remember - it's been a while) and the acting is on point.
Not played the games but this is right up my street I think. Already missing the walking dead.🙁
I'll need to watch it on Now.
Is it dropping weekly or is the whole series out?
I only really want to pay for one month of Now.😁
Weekly on Mondays
Cheers mate. How many episodes are there?
9 apparently
Cheers. I'll wait a few weeks till the last 4 are due then sign up to Now for the month.👍
Looks like there'll be 9 episodes, first was pretty much a double at nearly 90 minutes, looked good and worked well, they have a great basis and they've brought in a decent cast (John Hannah is in it for a cameo!) and the writers are either from the original videogame, or written other decent stuff.
The only thing i can say that's a bit negative is that we do seem to be getting so many apocalyptic end of days stuff these days, certainly fits in with the way things are, but it's bloody depressing all the time!
Lasted 1/2 hr. I know it's based on a game but it just felt like I was watching someone playing a game which is the most boring thing ever
Yeah I like the Zombie games - Arma dayZ and other large scale multiplayers like planetside 2, and I watch a twitch streamer called RunningManZ's vids pretty much daily.. Not tried the actual standalone DayZ, but i will eventually.
I'll be interested to see how this goes. Not often they take a real life series out a game and make it a good rendition.
The only thing i can say that’s a bit negative is that we do seem to be getting so many apocalyptic end of days stuff these days,
I think it's like the late 60's early 70's with Planet of the Apes, Soylent Green etc. It's reflecting a pessimistic view of where the world is heading.
Lucky, I love this kind of stuff and it doesn't depress me at all. Oddly, particularly during lockdown, I sought out apocalyptic stuff even more. I actually find it reassuring! Lol
Enjoyed that. Haven't played a computer game in about 10 years and if I didn’t know it was based on one, there’s no way I would’ve guessed. Look forward to how it progresses.
really? Super clichéd plot didn’t give it away? 🤔😂Haven’t played a computer game in about 10 years and if I didn’t know it was based on one, there’s no way I would’ve guessed.
Decent opener though, will stick with it. PP very watchable as ever even if he’s been a bit restrained in this so far!
it just felt like I was watching someone playing a game
you'll enjoys the avatar film then - it's like hours of cutscenes all edited together.
Thought it was very good, sticks close to the game and it’s brutal.
really? Super clichéd plot didn’t give it away?
That would cover pretty much all TV though.
Very much enjoyed the first episode, it seems like they're sticking pretty close to the game so far which is a good thing!
My GF rolled her eyes with the "Oh not another zombie show haven't they done this to death?" and I'm just like... you don't say that about all the hospital or police dramas you watch, why this other genre? It's not about what kind of story it's telling, it's about how it tells that story.
We've definitely seen the whole 'Start of a zombie apocalypse' before but TLOU goes its own way pretty rapidly. Can't wait for the rest of the season.
I’m not a massive gamer so didn’t really know much about it at all, but thoroughly enjoyed that last night.
Love the way they shot some of the scenes like a game. That’s either going to work, if done really well, or it’s really, really not

Wait ‘till you hear the Clickers!
Super clichéd plot didn’t give it away?
Nothing gave it away. Plot-wise I really didn't expect
Loved it. Played the games loads, the first episode followed parts of it and differed massively in others. No problem with that though, it’s an epic story and it’ll be good to see how they tell it. Joel wasn’t as grumpy as I thought and Elle was very different looks wise. Think it works though and looking forward to that next 8 episodes. It’ll be great to see some other story lines fleshed out (Bill).
It's been getting lots of praise from critics and fans of the games. Like others have said, I'll wait until the last couple of episodes then rejoin NowTV and binge it.
This also reminds me that I am yet to finish TLOU 1 (at the University level) and yet to start TLOU 2. One day...
Enjoyed that. Had it running on the second monitor whilst trying to work but got so distracted I had turn it off until I’d finished earning.
I never knew it existed as a game until I saw the trailer.
Also the first zombie series I’ve ever watched.
Love the way they shot some of the scenes like a game. That’s either going to work, if done really well, or it’s really, really not
As a big gamer, I'm not sure what you mean? I didn't see any scenes that were shot like a game. no third person type viewpoints. Unless you mean game cutscenes, which these days are rivalling movie CGI scenes?
Anywho, thoroughly enjoyed that - it's been a while since I played/watched the first game so I can't remember the details of the storyline but I remember the big points.
The grandma in the chair was pretty chilling and I've seen loads of zombie type films/TV shows.
Pedro Pascal can do little wrong in my eyes too, which helps! Not 100% on the casting of Ellie but I'm sure I'll get used to her after a few episodes.
I noticed some people going up a ladder, like Donkey Kong.. maybe that's what they meant 🙂
The cause of the ‘zombification’ is based on proper science and actual infections.
As a big gamer, I’m not sure what you mean?
or me really can’t think of any part that was any different to other shows.
The cause of the ‘zombification’ is based on proper science and actual infections.
If only they had a cameo appearance of someone explaining just that at the start.
It was entertaining. I'll keep watching.
Finally watched the first ep last night - worth the wait, I thought it was excellent, Mrs C usually has low tolerance for anything with zombies or that could be scary also enjoyed it. Roll on next Monday.
Warning, some slight spoilers based on the game. Watch at least Ep1 before viewing.
I found this enlightening.

Finally watched the first ep last night –
79 minutes ia too much of a commitment for me, but watched most of the first half. I like the early 2000s setting, and can see the young actress protagonist developing into a compelling central figure. Will watch more tonight I'm sure
Daughter was wearing the same shirt as in the game -nice touch…
2nd episode today, really well done. They nailed a certain zombie type (trying not to give away spoilers to those new to the story).
I like that several lines were taken directly from the game.
Yeah another cracking episode, the lighting effect was very much like the game too.
wish he would just shoot the truculent teen.
Ep 2 was brilliant. I didn't think horrors could scare me anymore I've seen so many, but I was having kittens!
the truculent teen.
is excellent. Though I miss the less truculent teen who was good up to about the halfway point of episode one.
It's two episodes in and quite slow, it's got that feel of following the video game a little too much, but still a long way to go, just a shame it's one episode a week, so you either stop watching and view them over a weekend, or have these week breaks where it kind of loses a lot of its flow.
