Always love this one of Spartacus, hardly the most Gallic of pics, though! I remember when he blasted past us, down by the Palace. Just from the wind turbulence as he passed, you could tell he was just so much faster than everyone else.

I know he's Satan and everything but this, when it happened had me gob-smacked. They'd been fighting each other all day but Armstrong, clearly doped up to the eyeballs, had plenty left in the tank and half way up the Alp d'Huez, did 'the look' and then completely lunched on Ulrich. It really was quite impressive (what drugs can do for you). The acceleration was incredible and no-one had anything to even come close to it.

I was lucky enough to stand about 5 feet away from Didi (is that his name? I just refer to him as the Devil) he had a huge bike on a trailer he was towing about. I managed to pinch on of the Tour direction arrows off a lampost, one of my prized possesions!

That photo I popped up of the "forgotten winner" was Oscar Pereiro, he who took over the win in 06' after Floyd Landis was booted out after Stage 17 doping enfringement. Incidentialy Oscar now plays Footy for a Div2 Spanish team.
