Sci fi series on Netflix. Season 2 out recently. I'm a big Sci fan and find very little Sci fi about that is any good. Favourite Sci fi of mine would be X files, star trek generations, Battlestar Galactica/Caprica and Westworld. This is actually hitting the spot right now. Anything else decent to be had at the moment?

I am not a big science fiction fan, but loved the Expanse.

If you like it check out the books it's based on. They are really quite good and the show is pretty faithful to them.

Also, I like the fact Anderson Dawes looks like Charlie Brooker.

I read the books and for some reason some of the characters became like some of the characters from Firefly/Serenity in my head. It was then weird to watch...

Oh firefly is another favourite. Rarely find a film or series as good if I've read the book 1St particularly Sci fi as the imagination is so much better than any cgi could be.

Stargate! sg-1, atlantis and uninverse all great!

There's a new star trek out next month I think, discovery. Google suggests a new stargate too, but says something about web series, not sure what that means, some kinda prequel to sg-1 so i'd imagine fairly short? edit, 10 minute eps so aye.

I liked Continuum and Falling Skies more recently.

Yeah, recently stated watching it.

As always, fist couple of episodes were just "ok" as they are introducing the characters. After that it really starts to hot up.

Very impressed so far, just started watching series 2.

Star Trek: Discovery is set to debut on CBS on September 24, 2017, with that episode and the rest of the 15-episode first season being made available on All Access. The season is split into two chapters, with the first chapter finishing in November 2017, and the second chapter beginning in January 2018.

hmm, i'm off next week, will need to resist temptation to do nothing but sit and watch that! 😆

Loved the Expance, also like Dark matter cause I thought it has shades of Firefly. Just watched the first episode of The Orville which was funny in places without being full on comedy, time will tell.

Just finished 3rd series of Black mirror, it's rather good.

The books are great but after 2 seasons the TV Nagata is really getting on my tits.

I was expecting this to be about a really sub-par hotel on Bridlington

Agreed! Only occurred to me earlier on that's it's her voice that manages to make it all pretty irritating!

No spoiler warnings needed I think.

He’s only in the first episode for about a minute.

Firefly is awesome.

One of my all-time favourites is Farscape. (So essentially, any sci-fi that begins with 'F'...) They were really good at rolling out tired old tropes that make you think "oh god, not this again" and then turning it on its head and doing something totally fresh and different with it. Also they weren't shy about killing off characters, which kept viewers on their toes.

I was always kinda ambivalent about Farscape.

It was, as you say, really good and this guy....[img] [/img]
was genuinely quite scary.

It was the fraggle that ruined it for me.

I found Killjoys enjoyable. Not as good as The Expanse, but good if you're into the space cowboys thing.

The first expanse book is alright, second less so, third silly, there I stopped. I thought, hopefully without spoiler, it missed the character who buys it at the end of book one. Do the other books improve?

About halfway through s2 at he moment

The show is pretty good. I like the way they bring in characters earlier than the books, it adds richness. The special effects and sets are good, ever if the old slow motion walking for low g is a bit cardboard at times. I'm glad they kept the belter patois without toning it down (if anything it's harder to understand than in the books).

I am finding that s2 has upped the pace a bit, hope it doesn't rush through the plot too quick.

Not sure if I got to the end of season 3, lots going on and the break in the middle seemed a bit strange, more like the season should have ended there. Enjoyed it as it went though just not quite the highs of S1 & 2

I've made it through to Book 6(!) and they've levelled out at "decent enough to keep going, 'cos I'm pretty committed now".

Not seen more than S1 bit on to book 6 and really like them. Just easy reading, good SciFi.

S3 just finished airing on SyFy in the US, so you need to be a bit creative to watch it in the UK..

Thought season 3 went from strength to strength and seems all the more remarkable that it got cancelled given the possibilities the ending opened up for future seasons.
