Right so the house is on fire but everyone is safe - so are the pets. The insurance is paid up and the bikes are all in a separate garage down the bottom of the garden so they are all right.....

You've got two hands so what two items do you run out with?

I've got a book my wife gave me on our first wedding anniversary (The Starship and the Canoe) and my acoustic guitar....what have you got?

Insurance documents. Might be paid up, but the bastards will twist out of it if they can.

Phone - all the insurance stuff is on it.

My daughters beloved toy panda that she's loved since she was a toddler but was deemed to be too fragile to be taken away to uni.

Bunch of keys - car and bike locks

The waterproof box of documents that doesn’t fit in the fire safe.

I met someone once whose house caught fire while they were in the shower and escaped with just a towel. A neighbour took pity on them and brought him a dressing gown but sort of left him to it - once the fire was out and the fire brigade had left he was still just standing in the street wearing a random woman's dressing gown.

The neighbour later reappeared and slapped and sticky label on his chest - which was the address to return the dressing gown to when he was finished with it

The nights takings from the tills .

Saw the thread title and came looking for this comment.

Seems like the fire safety inspectorate have some questions to answer as well.

There’s very little that can’t be replaced. The serious answer would be a watch that I was bought for me 18th. The less serious answer is a pair of Nike Vaporfly Next% in the original release pink colour. The latter is definitely worth more than the former.

I really don't own anything valuable or sentimental. Is that sad or liberating?

I've got 3 expensive bikes but they're easily replaceable modern stuff. Even my guitars are only Squier and Epiphone. My MacBook has got a knackered battery.

I'd be happy to leave everything behind and go shopping with the insurance money.

Macbook + SSD harddrive (they're attached so count as one) - all the music I've recorded over the last few years is on there. Should do a proper backup!

How many LPs can I carry in one hand? 😆

If only one then a first press copy of 'Dusk Fire ' my dad gave me. Sentimental value + it's worth about £1000. Probably only a few hundred in existence.

My phone if it was within reach as I access my insurance details. Nothing else is worth risking no matter the sentimental value.

My HDDs with all my music/other projects. They are mounted into quick-release cradles, so I can just pull them all straight out and do a runner.

That and my trad climbing rack, it's all sat in a backpack so that's easy to grab.

If any space left, I would grab my Beyerdynamic headphones too. They aren't too special but I like them and they don't make this model anymore

A painting I got when my grandparents downsized a few years before they departed this world, thinking of which it has actually been rescued from a house fire before when the roof of their bungalow went up in flames.

what cloud service is that Multi? I'd also have a HDD w photos and docs on in one hand. I should put one Synology in a mate's house and back up remotely really, but haven't got there yet

There are loads, pick one that has the amount of storage you need on a cheap deal.

I use IDrive (nothing to do with Apple despite the name!)
