Being a family man, this TV show is a part of household living. I go along with it, but the standard of artists this winter are particularly weak

Matters aren't helped by the antique song choises chosen for these young singers.

There is a load af nonsense from the judges, stating that artists should be versatile, but this is dumb. It's dumb because artists each have genre at which they excel. Anyone in their right mind would let an artist sing stuff which they like.

The programme doesn't do much to nurture these guys. It's really just cheap TV for the masses on a Saturday evening.

It's interesting that the US version, American Idol, does seem to churn out successful winners in genres other than pop. Can't remember the guys name but there's a pretty successful country music singer that either won, or finished highly in American Idol. They've also had a fair among of other contestants that have done well.

It's taken a while, but I'm genuinely pleased to say that at last there is something about which I can agree with Spongebob.

Best way to 'watch' it is on the PVR to skip over the bulk of the crap! At least in minimises the time wasted watching it

Ain't it just braw, the democratization of Art an' that!!
Get a flash haircut, stand up infront of a telly camera, whine through your nose with a phoney north american accent and low and behold:
You're a star!!
Yup, I know I'm a culture snob 8)
It's amazing how much time you have in your life to do worthwhile sh*t when you don't watch reality tv or hospital dramas!!

I hate the x factor but I find it so funny how all these idiots get wound up about the voting. Have they not realised it is Simon Cowell making more millions he openly admitted the other week keeping tje shite one in as "she is more entertaining."

I like it and don't think the standard is bad this year.

Matt & Rebecca are outstanding, Cher & Aidan can show moments of class (see Cher doing Shakespeares Sister and not be moved).

Wagner is the Anne Widdicombe - I seriously wonder what is wrong with the British public, but then with nob's like Moyles supporting him, it's too be expected.

One Direction seem like they will actually make an acceptable boy band (if that's your bag).

The rest are meh to me.

I do agree it's the Simon Cowell manipulation/money printing show though and don't trust for one second the results/actions/motives of the whole thing.

They should do a tv show call it bandswap - get Metal singers to sing boyband ballads, & boybands to sing metal etc...

I'd like to say +1, but that could be rubbish too.

I'll get back to you on that one! 😆

Universal suffrage - Every citizen should have the right to a single vote.

Of course, should they choose to use it for X-Factor, they should subsequently forfeit the right to vote for anything of any real consequence!

While I'm no fan of the show, my wife is and so I'm subjected to it at regular intervals and as a result I'm going to have to disagree with you here. I agree the boyband probably has all the young girls behind them but the people who pay the phone bills will vote for the scouser who has an absolutely stunning voice. I was walking through the oliving room on Saturday trying to make my way upstairs to the xbox when she came on singing an elton john song. It was astounding.
