Tenting or Camping?

I was browsing around Go Outdoors this weekend, and I heard several people refering to sleeping outside under canvas as 'tenting'. I always thought it was under the catch-all banner of Camping.

I can see that some insecure folks don't want to be 'camp', but I always thought that 'tenting' was when a male, erm, physically expressed their excitement?

Am I living in the past?

I'm in the past as well.

Maybe that's what they were talking about, though. Maybe it's the new dogging.

Maybe it's to differentiate the campers in tents to those in caravans...?

Sounds like some marketing bullshit that is starting to be used, over the summer there will be an article in the sunday travel section in various broadsheet papers about "tenting" and how it's subtly different to camping because you can now do so in these times of austerity but is also NOT to be confused with glamping as it's more real and like you did with your parents in the 70s / 80s but with better wine.

Tenting? I've only heard that used for involuntary trouser action in the presence of Miss Desirable.
