Long shot.
Fractured the joint part of a section of pole for our beloved Wild Country Quasar tent, from c. 1989. Wild Country don't have anything close in stock any more, am trying Hamptons & SMG but does anyone have any spare sections or indeed poles suitable?
I reckon it's 2.85m long in total, 9.5mm diameter (possibly originally 10mm), it's the porch pole rather than corner to corner. Looks like 47cm section lengths - but that would need exact diameter match..
Now looking at suitable replacement 1+ / 2+ man tents...
c1989? ? Even with light use each year, surely the fabric is shot now? I think it owes you nothing now. Treat yourself to a new one.
Speak to Scottish Mountain Gear - they have been great about helping out with odd poles and repairs when I was at the outdoor centre:

Yak - still seems in OK nick to me, not really been tested much of late.
I'll try S M G again Matt, cheers - originally I tried to find a section, which I thought was curved, but now believe it curves over time - so might get away with a new section. - good suggestion to keep at them..
Got some bits of poles from an old quasar, they are 470mm long and 9.5mm o/d and 8mm i/d. Any use?
Andy
@andy - they would be a perfect fit -- guy at Hamptons tried to say they would be 10mm OD but I reckon 9.5mm. Just need to get shock cord off - hope that would be OK -- and retro fit. they sound bloody ideal.
Shall I PM you?
PM me.
if whassname's pole doesn't work then there are various topics on ukclimbing.com offering Quasar poles and parts
These are Easton 3/8" (I think) pole sections that can be had from SMG; cut them to the required length with a tube cutter. Poles start life straight!
SMG have gone a bit quiet but I think I'm sorted; fingers crossed.
It was so long ago since I got the tent I can't recall how the pole sections were in the beginning. I know they're quite sculpted now 🙂
SMG are in Musselburgh if you're down at some point. Last time I bought a section off them they were about £7 for a 2ft length.
Aye, I've had the fly for this tent repaired there actually.
I'd probably need to start again and get a whole length made up. cheers!
