Im going to get a tent for MM and the twenty four 12. Not sure which to get.
A 2 man pop-up for quick pitching:

Never had a pop up so was interested to know if they are any good?

If your going by car why not get something you can at least stand up in / put the bike inside etc. Got to be better than crawling on the floor to get in/out in crap weather.
If you do want just a small tent, why not get a cheap gazebo to go over the tent entrance so you can sit in the dry/shade etc. A cheap one should only cost about £20 or so.

Yes. They're great.
You can get big ones too.
Those pop up tents are awesome. But spend the extra and get one of the ones with the extended porch.
The only slightly annoying thing is drying them out.
