me and a group are riding the Cairngorms loop in June and can’t decide on best tent to buy, want to go light and small... been looking at msr FreeLite, msr hubba, force 10 helium 1, wild country zeph 1 does anyone have any of these or others they could give me some advice on?

Are you sharing a tent or one each

Purely based on customer service I wouldn't buy another wild country product.... Strangely I bought on the strength of their previous customer service but they don't give a stuff these days.

I'd buy an msr based on experiance of their customer service along with postie Riches experiance and they make good kit 🙂

You've chosen the right time to buy.  Now is the winter of our discount tents.

One each, at the moment I’m liking the force 10, had a few vangos over the years and weight I thinks about 1.2kg can get one for about £160

I use a Lunar Solo. Lightweight, vents well, easy to pitch.

Pity Argos don't sell that little one man they used to sell.

They were all the rage for a few years, got mine for £15!

^ my favourite tent ever.  I think the Nordisk Svalbard is about the nearest similar style available nowadays.  Only another £100 on the Argos one 😏

I've used an MSR Hubba on a few road and off road bikepacking tours lasting in total about about four months. It has stood up to some strong winds and it has never leaked. I've always used it with a foot print. Interior space is just enough for a thermarest and no more, there is a bit of useable space in the vestibule. Headroom is good. It's quick and easy to pitch. The mesh inner makes it a bit chilly on cold Scottish nights, I've endured -10C in the Cascades.

MSRs customer service is very good. I broke a pole section on the MSR Ventana that I crossed the US with,  I managed to pick up a random pole section along the way to keep me going. When I got home I contacted the importer and they sent me three new sections FOC.
