batteries flat on the bike lights tonight so decided to go for a run.

It was horrible - I ended up stopping every .5k .

How long before it becomes like a bike ride? ie when you are knakered you can just take it easy and chugg along?

twice a week for a month?

Just pace yourself a bit more or you'll end up hating it. Sounds like you started off far too fast and ran out of energy. Start off at a slow pace and adjust it as you go.

Twice a week for a month is a decent starting point, as long as your not over doing the mileage. Start on maybe 2 miles, if it feels too easy then maybe move up to 3 or so. Gradual progress is the key, not hammer and tongs on the first few weeks. Theres no shame in stopping when your knackered, makes sense if you don't want to get injured. Oh, and having decent properly fitting trainers is a good idea. Cycling and running are completely different, I ran the Edinburgh Marathon in May, but 3 weeks before that I did the WHW over 3 days on my bike and, even though I'd been Marathon training for near on 8 months I was knackered! 😆

Depends on your general fitness, maybe less.

The rule of thumb is increase the distance by not more than 10% per week; your CV fitness increases much faster than your muscular fitness so its easy to get injuries by running to far too soon.

Why do you never see a runner smile? No 'grin' factor in running?

best advice i was given was buy the most expensive pair of 'proper' dedicated running shoes you can afford.

go with a mate, its much more fun.

it is very hard to keep going but stick with it.

Pacing is essential to running. Get the pacing right and you will smile.
Where you run probably helps with the smiling too.

Leave 5 minutes earlier and walk....you'll arrive at the same time.
